    What are you drinking now?

Drinking a few pints of my Mad Anthony Auburn Lager growler I picked up last night while eating there. Anyone ever had a Mad Anthony brew?

Do you enjoy brewing more than drinking?

I would love to brew every single day! For me (I am a senior accounting major) I have my weeks pretty full with school and homework. I do not have time or it is not in good conscious to drink every night. I will usually go to the college bar once a week (2.00 premiums and craft pints on...

    I caved in...

Had the same problem as you! That weird taste, but I only waited a few weeks also haha

    1st tasting

Haha yes, you must immerse yourself in the study to become a master. I believe it is Clayton Christensen who says you must either complete 10,000 hours of study or 10 years of study before you can fully understand something....challenge accepted!

    1st tasting

See I had read that on here, but the instructions said the opposite, will note and try opposite next brew. I asked this a few days ago but didn't get much of answer, is there any benefit to using lme vs using dme?

Understand all your criticisms and enjoy hearing them actually. First thing to becoming a good leader and business person is understanding that you don't have all the answers not are your ideas always the best. I in no way plan to start this endeavor right away. I have a time frame and a plan...

    1st tasting

Here is a picture. There was nothing during the process that suggests an infection. Maybe I oxidized it during bottling?

    1st tasting

Ya I understand the wait longer deal, of course I do not plan on going right away, I am an entrepreneur at heart and am always looking for ideas like this. Without risk takers in this world, there would be very few businesses. I am leaning for towards it being an "extract twang" also. I wish I...

    1st tasting

I don't think it is an infection though. It is very faint and maybe not even really there, just in my head. Maybe I am just confusing it with another taste.

    1st tasting

Just popped the top on my first batch on Friday. All my 6 packs are spoken for and everyone enjoyed it. Most of my friends are very picky/unsophisticated drinkers and loved it. I noticed a bit of a sourness in the aftertaste. Is this just not giving it enough time in the bottle or is that...

    LME vs DME

So I am planning out my next couple brews and comparing prices on AHBS and Midwest supply. On AHBS, I noticed that they have 2 different version of extract recipes, one with LME and one with DME. Can a more experienced brewer tell me the difference between the 2 as far as taste or quality...

    Stout Fermenting Question

Ok perfect, my ferment temps usually stay around 60-66. I just didnt want to buy a stout kit and then realize I have no way of fermenting it properly.

Five types of hops to keep on hand?

What types of hops work best for amber type ales?

    Stout Fermenting Question

I used the search function but to no avail. I have been doing ales up to this point and I am looking into setups to better control my fermentation in order to jump into lagers. My question is if I brew a stout, does the fermentation temp have to be low like a lager or 62-68 like an ale?

Is takeing a beer to a bar illegal?

I know that in Indiana, if the establishment does not have a liquor license, some places permit people to bring in their own alchohol whether it be beer, wine, or vodka etc. Again that is only if they do not have a liquor license and I am not sure whether they have to allow you to carry in or...

    Cold Crashing

Other than clearing of beer, is there any other advantages to cold crashing? Are there less off flavors or does the beer taste more crisp?

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

I also can't stand anything by Sam Adams. I have tried quite a few of their offerings and none of them seem to do it for me.

    My bottling experience and questions

I used the same tubing that I use for for my siphon. Guess I will go get a smaller piece. You do learn something new everyday on here. I did not stir I racked in top and then sort of had a small whirlpool going from the siphoned beer entering the bucket. I didn't want to oxygenate the beer. What...

    Fermenting?

I just bottled today (18 days in fermenter). I have read on here that people leave it in the fermenter for a month or so. The longer the time it sits in there, the more your beer will clear. I don't think you will have a problem.
