new kenmore 4.6 cu ft slide out freezer tray *KEGERATOR* help

Understandable. You don't have to build a collar with a keezer by the way. I have a 2 tap tower mounted to the top of mine reinforced by a 2x8 that I sunk in the insulation. I have 2 kegs, a pc fan box/blower, 5lb CO2 tank, and a carboy that I am lagering in there right now. I think it is a...

new kenmore 4.6 cu ft slide out freezer tray *KEGERATOR* help

I am not sure if that will work or not but for that price you could get a bigger chest freezer and convert it into a kegerator with a temperature controller. Then you would have room to lager if you wanted to too.

Guys - great info! I am loving all the recommendations. Keep them coming if there are any honey holes that have not been named. I appreciate the help.

There is no doubt that there is a great selection of quality beer there! I appreciate the suggestions!

    Chicago Beer Scene

I guess I should preface this with: I thoroughly enjoy visiting new places and sampling the "beer of that area" if you will... I am headed to Chicago for a long weekend/mini vacation with my wife at the end of this month. I have been in Chicago on business a few times but never really...

    A Question About Head...

    Hilarious (bc it's true).

    What's wrong with bottling?

It's all the reasons stated above. Yea, it costs a little more money to jump into kegging but it doesn't mean it can't be done on the cheap. The benefits far outweigh the costs IMO. If you were to keg, I think the reason's it is so much "easier" would be apparent. I recommend researching it...

    Keezer Question

I went the tower route on a freezer very similar to the one you are looking at buying. What I did was take the plastic liner off the inside of the lid, took a 2x8 and put it in the dead center of the insulation and traced it with a pencil, I then cut that block of insulation out and replaced it...

    MillerCoors Craft Beer Expansion...Thoughts?

I've seen it. That was kind of my point. This expansion into this market has probably got a lot of craft brewers a little bummed.

    MillerCoors Craft Beer Expansion...Thoughts?

I don't disagree with that in the least bit, but people WILL buy it. Is it a good thing for the "industry" as a whole that people will become more exposed "craft beers" (because, let's be honest - if they make it, it's going to be on the shelves right next to all the other Shock Tops etc), or...

    MillerCoors Craft Beer Expansion...Thoughts?

I searched for this, but I will be honest with you, I think I am probably one of the worst "searchers" when it comes to this site - so please forgive me if this has been posted already: http://news.draftmag.com/2010/08/13/millercoors-invests-in-craft-launches-new-beer-arm/

    Kegerator (Discount Tommy)

+1 I am not "handy" per se and I built a dope keezer with all new parts, freezer included - for less than this and it holds way more kegs. Do a little research on this site, specifically under the DIY and kegging/bottling tabs and you will soon find you can make something much more functional...

    Oktoberfest Ale?

I brewed the True Brew Oktoberfest last year as an ale and it was "okay." It needs time to age and taste better. I tasted one 6 months after the rest had been consumed and it was 10x better than the rest. I know this means nothing to you now, but it is good advice for next year. I mean...

My wife surprised me with a case of it today when she got home. It is my favorite SA too.

    True Brew Stout Question...

I made this recipe once, and I added oak chips soaked in whiskey to the secondary - but I was going more for an "oaked stout" vs a traditional stout. If you are interested in doing this, it turned out excellent.
