Peanut Butter seems popular now ...

Okay, so I actually started this brew on Sunday. Mash went well giving me 21L at 1.030. I don't have a proper brew kettle to do a full boil; instead I plan a partial boil (7L) for all hop / misc additions. Instead of adding water to top up to final fermenting volume, lately I have been playing...

    Enzymes

Seems its banned as a topical ointment. Didn't say anything about pill form. You could try crushing the pills. I may even try juicing a couple papyas and adding the juice at the beginning of the mash. Anyone notice the concentrations in the fruit?

    New Planet Amber Ale

Hey Tractor, sounds like a happy mistake. If you're trying to add body, dont use dextrose, use malto dextrin. Dextrose will thin the body out, its highly fermentable.

The company that makes the Beerzym Multi is Erbslöh. From their site you can find a supplier in North America, IDL Consulting out of British Columbia. They don't have any prices on the site but they have contact information. You could check and see the prices and shipping costs. My...

GF Beer that Tastes Like ... Beer?

Thunder Chicken, Please note that Sorghum Molasses and the Sorghum Syrup reference in this forum are different. Molasses is made from "juicing" the stalk and boiling it down. The Syrup is made from the grain using a "malting" process and is chemically the closest replacement for standard...

    Juicing sweet potatoes

danz, I think I got very little conversion on the rice. I should have boiled the ever living hell out of it to gelatinize but instead I just crushed it and threw it in. It provides great flavour and colour though.

    Homebrew Beginner

I know it's a little crazy but here is how I went about it and I started in about September last year: Started by reading John Palmer's book How to Brew. He has the first edition available for free on his website. My goal here was to understand the process and chemistry behind brewing...

    Juicing sweet potatoes

danz, I've read a few things where the protien from the Banana help both with head retention, mouth feel and yeast nutrient. My Ginger beer seems to prove it out since it was mostly highly fermentable sugars but still has decent mouth feel & head retention. The banana doesn't come through...

    Juicing sweet potatoes

If you boil the sweet potato you'll kill the natural enzymes. I'd suggest that you juice the sweet potato and the boil/cook the pulp for 30minutes. This will gelatinize the pulp (break down the starch/cell walls/etc) then cool to about 153F(60C) and add the juice back and maybe some artificial...

    Juicing sweet potatoes

Quick question: What are you planning witht he sweet potatoes? Are you going to use them as an enzyme source or are they the sugar source? Personally I have a Cream Ale on the docket comprised of Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Flaked Rice, Flaked Corn and Rice Syrup with enzyme added to get...

    Ye Old Confused Brown Ale

Here is the Beerzym Multi Technical Product Sheet. I skimmed through it quick and the enzyme contains Alpha Amylase, Beta Glucanase and various Beta Amylases. I'm starting to reconsider the peanut butter ale. Peanut butter isn't really very common over here and I finally took the time to...

Clarity-Ferm, Gluten Testing, and Gluten Sensitivity

Tommyguner03, Did you get a diagnosis? Sounds like Dermatitis Herpetaformis, which is what I have. When I consume gluten I get blisters filled with a clear fluid on my feet, hands, lower back, knees, elbows and face. Before the blisters break, I almost want to use sandpaper on my skin...
