    Hop Candy recipe

Has anyone tried this with LME in place of corn syrup? Or Brown Rice Syrup for those Gluten Free brewers? The chemistry says it should work. If I can find a candy Thermometer maybe I'll give this a whirl this Weekend.

    All Grain with Sorghum

There is lots of information in the GF Grain Malting Thread. Also, there is a PDF from Andrew Lavery around the internet. I have a copy if you want me to PM it to you.

    Millet

Beer Up, a GF Beer from Austria has a millet base and its great. I've also used millet as part of the base in my brown ale and I#ve been very happy with it.

CPVC or PEX or Single Tier System?

That notice is on damn near everything in California from my experience. Anything in the product or the manufacturing process that could be a potential carcinogen triggers this warning I think, enev in cases where the process renders the carcinogen inert. Meaning that under normal operation...

    gluten free mcgee with ginger?

I made a GF Ginger Beer in the spring that turned out okay. The approach I took was to layer in the ginger flavour at 45min, 30min, 15min and finally a dry hop for a week or so, kinda like cooking. This way you get the bite from the "Dry Hopped" Raw Ginger and more mellow flavours the longer...

Peanut Butter seems popular now ...

So it would up coming out tasty but not as heavy on the peanutbutter as I wat looking for. Goes great with the strawberry cider though! Gonna need a few revidions to dial it in.

Peanut Butter seems popular now ...

Well I bottled this yesterday and holy crap was there a lot of sediment and crap in there, close to a gallon and it never really settled well. I may be moving soon and I didn't have time for another racking so I bottled it up and I'm hoping that it'll settle in the bottles. The smell was very...

2.5 gal Gluten free IPA Recipe Thoughts?

I'd suggest dry hopping with Saaz. Light roast and steep the grains, this will add a little more complexity and depth to the beer. More of a backbone for the hop bitterness to balance against.

    Mismatch hops

Isn't that the same concept as Cascadian Dark / Black IPA? A dark, but not heavy beer with North West hops ("Columbus, Centennial, Chinook, Amarillo, Simcoe and Cascade or hybrids of these like Warrior or Magnum" from BYO Jul/Aug 2010) and a dry finish. Generally the hop profile has a pine or...

    Gluten free and vegan beer

Asaf, Steeping is when you soak the grains in water at about 150F for around 30minutes. This adds some grain flavour to the final product. Here is the recipe for the first brew that I did: Batch Volume: 2.5gallons The steeping grains soak up about 0.75 gallons of the steeping water...

    Gluten free and vegan beer

I can't get Sorghum Extract here so I use rice extract for the most part with a combination of steeping grains and other "Sugars". I'm just starting to get into All grain using external enzymes, I don't have the room to malt here.

    Recovering Lost Volume

Yeah, that's basically what I figured. Just thinking I should add volume based on hop balance. My last batch of the base beer here has been pretty good, a little malt forward with a decent hop balance. I don't want the hops to overwhelm the peanut butter and/or malt taste with the hop flavour.

    Gluten free and vegan beer

You may need to get the rice syrup from a health food store or something like that.

    Gluten free and vegan beer

Asaf, Welcome. First thing I'd suggest is take a look at the GF Recipes Section, there are about 20 recipes there now. In any of the recipes that use honey you could play with substituting Agave Syrup, Molasses, Sorghum Molasses (not Sorghum syrup), Maple Syrup, etc. Instead of...

That may work. I bought a couple 2kW converters when we first moved here to run some of our electronics we brought with us. Thanks for the info.

Peanut Butter seems popular now ...

Thanks but there is a good chance that we'll be moving back to Canada at the end of the year and I don't want to buy more electronics that require a EU power source till I know for sure. I've been eyeing up the 36L kettle from Brouwland with the 30cm indoor/outdoor propane burner but I'm...

    Recovering Lost Volume

My latest batch ran into a problem that has hit me a couple times in my admittedly short brewing history. I has a good mash resulting in plenty of pre-wort at my target SG but because I don't have a proper boil kettle I boiled off too much wort and wound up under my target post boil volume but...
