    Thanks for the responses folks! I appreciate the BIAB tips. What do you find the best way to lift the big bag of grains out is? I usually brew in my kitchen, so I’d rather not mount a big pulley on the ceiling.

    Am I understanding correctly that you had 1 gallons with steep grains added to 5 gallons, and still required a gallon of water at the end to get to a total of 5 gallons? Does that mean 2 gallons (plus the volume of your extract) boiled off? That seems like a lot. You might have ended up with...
