    Hello Fellow Washingtonians!!

Rogue Captain Sig's Northwestern Ale attempt

Dan.. I just put the hurts to pitcher of this great brew at The Milton tavern. What a great Northwest style ale. A quick search found your post. I'll be trying out your recipe soon. I'll let you know how it comes out.

British Brown Ale New Castle Clone - Accidental

McCuckerson.. I tried my version of your Nut Brown recipe last night.. Most drinkable.. I plowed through 3 pints of it. I plan to take 2 liters over to the weekly gathering of the usual suspects tonight. They’re a bunch of hop heads, except one, so I'm not sure how this will go. I...

    Need some advice

I agree.. I have been homebrewing for 20 years now, and have always loved it.. However, once you start brewing professionally you can't just walk away from it for a month. Get a solid income under yourself. Then if you still want to work in the Brewing industry take a part time job somewhere to...

One gallon short on water, 20 hours in: Add water or no?

Hellosluggo, A quick google seach gave me the following: Cooper's Ale (Cooper's) All-purpose dry ale yeast. It produces a complex woody, fruity beer at warm temperatures. More heat tolerant than other strains, 65-75¡F; recommended for summer brewing. Medium attenuation and flocculation...

    Got the fridge!

:ban: Sounds like the start of something great. What are your plans? Going to put some tape on in and make a kegerator for your Man Room?

One gallon short on water, 20 hours in: Add water or no?

Hellosluggo... Looks like you have yourself a good session beer there.. As far as leaving a couple more weeks in hopes it will ferment down a little more.. I don’t think it will. Check it for a couple of days, if the gravity doesn't move, you’re at terminal. You didn't say what...

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

Re: 205dF in your mash tun.. I question your thermometer.. Can you or have you calibrated it recently? Calibration is easy with some boiling water.. it should read 212 dF at boil (unless you live in Denver) If yours can't be calibrated I'd think about replacing it with one that can be. With...

British Brown Ale New Castle Clone - Accidental

McCuckerson... I used your recipe as a starting point last weekend. By starting point I mean, I didn't have all the ingredients exactly, so as we all do from time to time, I improvised... Pilsner instead of Vienna malt (cause that's what I had) Chocolate 350L, (you hadn't specified)...

    Motorcycle Fanatics, show your ride(s)

My wife has a 400 Bergman that I have ridden several times. The damn thing is rated to 100 mph. I've never had it up that fast, but certainly handles freeway speeds without any problems... Even with my 6' 5" 240# butt on it.. LOL!!

    Motorcycle Fanatics, show your ride(s)

Thanks.. I really like riding it. This picture is a couple years old. I have since added a color matched back box on it. Cheers

    starch conversion

Follow on to my last post... When figuring your water to grain ratio, use .25 gallons (1 quart) of water per pound of grain in your grain bill. The grain will absorb about half the water... So, for 10# of grain you will mash into 2.5 gallons of water. You will recover 1.25 gallons of that...

    starch conversion

Sounds like your efficiency was pretty good, only missing your target by 3 points. You might try a couple of things next batch.. 1. Try a mashout. Thats were you raise the grain bed temp to around 160-165°F at the end of the mash. Hold this temp for 5 or 10 minutes. This will raise your...

    starch conversion

Couple of things.. What OG did you end up with? What was your grain bill, total #, batch size, amount of sparge water used & temp,? What was ths OG you expected. How much mash water did you use? Okay, that's more than a coupe of things, but it all plays into getting gravity and batch size your...
