    Beersmith

Beersmith probably has the best user interface, it is really a good looking program and has all the bells and whistles. The only thing it is missing from my experience is a comprehensive ingredients list. Promash and beer tools pro has a better list. Beersmith is nicer to look at though

Rogue Voodoo Bacon Maple Donut Beer?

it has a smell exactly like a smokey version of mrs. butterworths. honestly made me want to gag (the smell). The actual donut from voodoo is much better in my opinion. The beer is pretty smokey. Definitely an experience, funny pink bottle.

    Black IPA Recipe Help

In my opinion i'd do without the Choc malt and do only carafaIII for the dark malts. Between the Special B and 60L you will have the caramel you are looking for and the carafaIII is more forgiving in terms of not imparting astringency due to it being huskless. It does offer a good bit of...

    Apartment brewing?

i've done 3.5 gal batches of barleywine in my 9gal pot. it was no problem. That wasn't ebiab though. and it still was pushing it for boil over... not sure on the width to height ratio. but once you get a false bottom in there it is take up some space. I'd look at some different pot sizes and...

    Apartment brewing?

7 gal might work... but, i'd suggest going 10gal because you have to fit all your water and grain into it. you don't want to be limited by your vessel. as far as clogging, you shouldn't have problems. as far as the pot is concerned, most lhbs should have them and most i've found will pop a...

    Keg or Bottles

keg, but you can only have so many kegged... so you end up bottling a lot as well.

    Apartment brewing?

i'd look at doing a small Ebrewery. get like a 10 gal narrow opening pot so you can scale to the size you want. BIAB with a water heater element under a false bottom. A single vessel brewery seems like a perfect fit for an apartment dweller. I'd still look at getting a plate chiller and pump.

Fementation time for a big beer

sanitize a large spoon or long piece of cpvc (is my old h20 measuring stick) and gently stir up the yeast at the bottom. be as gentle as possible cause you don't want oxidation. then put it on a heating pad on low-medium for a few days. that's what id do. but definitely let it sit for a while...

Need a Pale Ale recipe for 10 oz of Hops

You said you don't know the alpha % if u remember correctly. So that said is push more hops towards the end of the boil because if your cascades are infact like mine 10.1% you might end up with with a 200 ibu IPA if your not careful. Might consider 4oz for dry hops. 2oz at 60 and the last 4...

Need a Pale Ale recipe for 10 oz of Hops

that is the only real problem with Beersmith, and the reason I still use promash... I'd find a spec sheet. most LHBS should carry them or email your grain distributor.

Need a Pale Ale recipe for 10 oz of Hops

just use any clean fermenting yeast. Notty is nice just cause it is a very clean/neutral yeast. might consider WLP001 or WLP029 for something slightly different. both are very clean. 001 if you push the ABV envelope though

Structure advice for an All-Grain newbie

depends on the fittings you want to use. Generally, the weld-less fittings are not the same as the tri-clamp. so you would need to switch at that time and the ferrules for the tri-clamps are larger diameter than the nipples you use to pass through the keg with a weld-less kit. If it's me I...

    the elusive pliney the younger...

they use GHB as a water softener up here... i think I'm safe ;-) Also had Boulevard's chocolate ale while I was there... It was amazingly chocolaty! 10oz was far more than i needed... very rich! While Pliney's were delicious and all... I think it was a bit crazy for every shop who got a keg up...

    Taking Homebrew on Vacation!

check these out... http://www.bottless.net/32oz_1L_PET_Beer_Bottles_s/584.htm I've brought samples into my LHBS in anything from 1L coke bottles to gatorade bottles. But, I'd totally go with something like those. They can even screen print your own logos on them :-)

    Frustrated Home Brewer

I think your opinions are valid, yet I urge you to volunteer to be a judge at a Home Brew Comp. I think you might change your mind on the quality part. I have tasted many home made home brewed beers that taste as good and often times better than commercially available craft beers. Remember, most...
