    1 to 2 vessels migration

@Setsy Beersmith has two global values for grain absorption rates, in fl oz/oz under settings / advanced IIRC. The only two differences between those two profiles is that the first one uses the BIAB absorption rate, and the second one uses the default absorption rate, roughly equivalent to...

    1 to 2 vessels migration

If I'm understanding the question correctly, my interpretation is that because beersmith works on a fixed brewhouse efficiency, then any changes in water volumes don't matter as far as gravities are concerned because the input efficiency hasn't changed. In real life, this isn't correct, which...

    Priceless BiabCalc

Been awhile, here's a short walkthrough on how to use the "autoscale" function Outline on how to use my advanced calculator to match your process and equipment. Example: 5.5 gallon batch size, 0.125 gal/lb absorption rate, no losses at kettle or mashtun. Batch sparge with a mash thickness of...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Yeah I've seen the video, it's using a new victorio popcorn maker, and from what little detail I can make out it looks like they're using the same burner as I am. Maybe I need to try another pot, or maybe my burners control system isn't working properly. I tried setting it to temp 180 and using...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Has anyone tried roasting on an induction burner? I tried recently with a cast iron skillet, and with a stainless container I have lying around (not sure what it's original purpose is, but it's food safe and has a lid), and the temperature of the skiller/pot just kept increasing regardless of...

    Brewtarget projected volumes

Lol stop clicking buttons all willy nilly! Probably a good move on resetting brewtarget since you're basically fresh anyways.

    Brewtarget projected volumes

If this is a bug exclusive to linux I can't comment, but I'll take a look for windows. Clicked a button to remove icon bar / full screen. Tried clicking all the buttons along the top and side, nothing changed the icon "ribbon" to borrow microsoft office terms. Page back in manual. At least in...

    Brewtarget projected volumes

What are you looking for in a software? If your only complaint right now is the projected volumes in brewtarget, I could help trouble shoot. It's probably part of the equipment profile OTOH. Really the only native linux app I can think of is brewtarget. Everything else is a web app, or...

    Brewtarget projected volumes

Brewtarget is still developing, but the next intended update (2.4) is still in the works. Not sure when the expected release date is.

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

I'll have to check, but I think it was from trader joes. I hear boars head is solid though, so I'll likely be trying that out unless it's super expensive.

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

Uhh I think we're on the opposite sides of this one. I'm having issues with too much grease/oil.

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

Having some issues with grease/oil lately. Can anyone recommend a particular cheese and pepperoni that helps with this?

Do you need a 1 off Stainless part built for your system? Let's discuss it.

I had a crazy thought the other day and wanted to run it by you. Glass rinse assemblies are too damn expensive for my cheap self. Could I hook a tiny spray ball or something like your 3" spray nipple you mentioned above, and throw it into a drip tray or stainless colander / utensil holder or...

Ultra low grain absoption with drain/fine crush?

My ruler measures down to 1/16th of an inch, which calculates out to like 6 ounces of fluid. That's way more precise than any sight glass or dip stick. If you don't have volume measurements, then you can't determine your grain absorption.

Or grab a stainless ruler that already has markings that are accurate!

Ultra low grain absoption with drain/fine crush?

That's not how it's measured. You measure how much total water you added to the mash, and you measure how much wort (volume) you got out of the mash. The difference is the apparent grain absorption rate. If you want to go by the "wet grain mass" after the mash you'd have to measure the SG of...
