    Brewtarget 2.3.0 First Wort Hops

It's an issue with the default value, but you can adjust it. As far as I can tell, it's just a coefficient or percentage with respect to a 60 minute boil. So a value of 100 for first wort will be equal to the ibus for a 60 minute boil addition. The default value is 100x100, probably incorrectly...

    Looking for feeback

I don't see a way to create or change the equipment profile in the demo at least, and not really interested in signing up. The inability to change the equipment, and the inability to change the boil volume, means I would never be able to use this. I didn't validate the calculations, but the...

    BeerSmith 3 Questions

Just putting my two cents in, my software has both dynamic thermal expansion, and gravities for every volume (first/second runnings, pre/post boil).

    Looking for feeback

Skewed perspective as I have my own software, and I also work for brewersfriend. Personally, I hate sliders aka range input type for any sort of numeric input. For a subjective input it's fine, but for a detail like batch size or boil time, or efficiency, that should just be a simple numerical...

How to dial in Brewhouse Efficiency on Beersmith 3

First definitions, Batch size is the total volume into the fermenter. This should be equal to post boil volume - kettle losses. For the sake of simplification, I would not include the starter volume or any of the sugar additions as mixing two different liquids of different gravities and...

Which homebrewing package is more accurate?

There's a few features missing from brewtarget. Love the project, but it seems to have stagnated the past couple years. I wanted to help, but I don't really know c++ or the tools they're using to be productive... Fermentability: Beersmith applies a linear equation based on a max fermentability...

OG Formula Option in Brewer's Friend

Here's my thread on this setting, from what I can tell it's not accounting for kettle losses properly. https://www.brewersfriend.com/forum/threads/recipe-builder-water-volumes-and-use-equipment-boil-size.11715/

OG Formula Option in Brewer's Friend

My recommendation is to not use it. Not sure what the intended use for it is, but I don't think it's working correctly.

    How much water?

No intention to remove the standalone biabcalc, but development may stagnant in favor of the complete recipe builder. You'll see a popup alert window on the biabcalc once the recipe builder is ready for testing/release.

    How much water?

Thanks for the support! If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve it, or feature requests let me know. Working on a complete rework that will have recipe formulation and fall under the "complete recipe builder" category but I'm still supporting my biab calc until I launch it!

    Another Efficiency Issue...

That's interesting about the lauter efficiency. Was this with a fly sparge or a good thorough batch sparge?

    Brewtarget accuracy?

Thanks for the words of kindness. Unfortunately I'm not very well versed in c++ or the tools they're using to develop brewtarget. I'm helping out mostly in documentation, testing, and oversight a bit. But really it's not that involved. There's a lot of people submitting bugs, but from what I can...

    Brewtarget accuracy?

Brewtarget uses a slight modification of the original tinseth IBU formula (same modification as beersmith, and brewersfriend). Instead of the average boil gravity being used, it's the final boil gravity. Other than that, you should end up with the same IBUs for any boil addition. Right now...

    Anybody using BrewStat.us?

Never heard of it, but from what I can tell you can't design fresh recipes. You have to start with a beerXML file, so I'm not interested.

BrewTarget : is it still active and developed?

https://github.com/Brewtarget/brewtarget Development has definitely slowed down, but it's not abandoned or anything. V2.4 is nearly done. There's a couple things pending, then a bunch of testing before release.

BeerXML Version 1.0 Extensions Are There Any?

Thanks, if there's any tags you think are still missing from the Beerjson repo, let me know.

BeerXML Version 1.0 Extensions Are There Any?

There's this github repo project I'm a part of, https://github.com/beerjson/beerjson, that's hoping to take over where beerXML left off and was abandoned for further development. BeerXML is currently abandoned, the proposal for version 2.0.1 was submitted in 2007 and never finalized... Any...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

I use the same one. I'm considering getting one of these to control the speed better https://www.harborfreight.com/router-speed-control-43060.html.

How much water for mashing and sparging?

They're different. You can do single infusion mash with a sparge. You can do single infusion biab with or without a sparge. Youre probably thinking of full volume, which is the same as no sparge.

    Brewer's Friend - IBU Accuracy?

This calculator at alchemy overlord is probably the best implementation of a modification of tinseth based on what we *know* about how whirlpooling, flameout additons, and oil saturation affects ibu. https://jphosom.github.io/alchemyoverlord/
