10 gallon rubbermaid home depot cooler conversion

My bad man, I did not realize any coolers had a 1" hole through them. I've converted 4 coolers into mash tuns over the years and every one has had a 7/8" hole for 1/2" trade size. Glad you got the parts you need and happy brewing!

    HBT morning routine?

Yup! I set my alarm for an hour earlier then I really need to so I can get up and read homebrewtalk and drink my coffee. I think this is probably the best community on the Internet right here.

    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

I started replying to your post and got very rambley so I'm going to post that over in "I like this time of night..." I smoked again this week cause I'm finally over that damn flu. I think the blends I smoke are classified as aromatics but I don't know. I agree with you Dan that the human...

    Pipe smoking, a lost art.

Great post Dan, I'm a few years shy of the colonoscopy but you've convinced me of it's significance. Maybe you can also convince me to get over my fear of getting a vasectomy. I don't like doctors, operations, or taking my pants off around people but I also don't want to recreate that Monty...

    Birthday of the Espresso Machine

Also my wife's birthday! She likes espresso, doesn't like Nazis.

The unoficially official new beer style "Lawnmower beers" thread!

Welcome to the thread for summer "lawnmower beers"! We're here to talk about our favorite light, crisp, refreshing, summer beers. My must recent success here was a pseudo-lager brewed with 34/70 and squeezed in while my wife was out and I had all the kids. It's a recipe I doubt I cutoff...

What I did for beer today

I love this idea! I think it should get it's own thread honestly. I've been brewing a lot more lighter beers this year and would love some advice on adding adjuncts.

    Beer History Books?

I've heard good things about Ambitious Brew by Maureen Ogle, I haven't gotten around to reading it yet but I want to. Not the period you're looking for but Audacity of Hops by Tom Acitelli was a really good book covering the craft beer movement since Anchor Point and New Albion up to now.

    Who else hates ipas?

I don't hate IPAs but I certainly don't drink then as much as I used to.. I don't like the ones taste like orange juice with all the pulp included but I can drink them if that's all that's available. I think that I'm starting to hate the term "IPA" though because it's become the opposite of what...

What I did for beer today

I personally don't prefer a frosted glass but why the hell would people get bent outta shape about the way you enjoy your beer?

What I did for beer today

I bottled a pilsner, bottled a coffee stout, brewed a black lager and a west coast IPA all 2.5 gallon batches. It was a long day but working on beer relaxes me a lot more than sitting on my butt all day and I'm feeling good!

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'm doing the IPA as well, I'm going for it. My black lager went really well up until I accidentally sprayed chiller water into it. The water smelled very strongly of garden hose so I'm crossing my fingers that it either diluted beyond taste threshold or the yeast do me a solid and digest it or...

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

I'm so confused, I've never heard anyone say "hell in a bucket" and I don't know if I really believe it's a thing. Also I thought it was "skip to my Lou" so either I'm nuts or you are.

Friend wants to brew a weed beer

That would be an excellent way to experiment without creating an undrinkable batch. Brew the beer and carbonate it and then make your tincture and experiment with a single glass of beer. The crew over at Basic Brewing Radio have been doing that a lot lately to experiment with flavors in...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Here's to better luck this time! 🍻 I'm brewing a black lager but I'm seriously considering doing a double brewday and brewing an IPA as well. I really wish I had a second kettle...

Best Way to Learn Advanced Brewing?

I'd like to follow this up with, if you're having a problem ask for some help. I was having some issues with gusher bottles and getting very frustrated until I talked to the local homebrew shop proprietor and he told me exactly what my problem is. The brewing community is an immensely helpful...

    Octoberfest request

I came here to say this as well. In my experience 34/70 produces a beer that has that distinct "lager" character even fermented at 60°F. I just recently brewed marzen/ oktoberfest at about 58 with 34/70 and it turned out really well.
