How full (Weight) do you fill your Kegs?

I transfer into a closed keg, so I don't know how much is in the keg. I use SSBrewTech Buckets so I'll stop just before the beer gets down to the bottom of the racking arm or until beer comes out of the hose I have attached to gas post. If the latter I'll drain about 3/4 of a pint out so the...

To scoop out hot break or leave it?

I skim it. It probably doesn't make much difference but I'm standing there anyway, so I might as well.

NorthernBrewer - hops came with no alpha acid percentages printed, wth?

That's pretty much what I did. The addition with 5 minutes left I kept the quantities the same, the addition with 30 minutes left I adjusted up just a bit and used the 60 minute addition to make up the rest, although I changed out Perle for Magnum.

NorthernBrewer - hops came with no alpha acid percentages printed, wth?

I brewed Monday with a recipe that calle for Tradition, Spalt and Perle. The alpha acids were so far down from what they were a couple of years ago that I substituted Magnum in for the Perle. I took second with this beer at NHC in 2019. I don't know that I can duplicate it any more.

Flashing/grommets in side of refrigerator for beer and gas line?

I used rubber grommets for the gas lines in my kegerator, but just on the metal side. Just be sure to use the right size drill. Don't ask me why I mentioned that! EDIT - I looked the other day and I also have grommets on the inside too.

Share Your Eclipse Experience (and beer)

My house (near St. Louis) will be at 98%. Good enough for me as I saw the totality in 2017. My son tried to get south of St. Louis for totality but the traffic was so backed up heading south on I-55 they turned around and went to a brewery that will be at 99% for their "Kinda Shady Eclipse...

    Don't Do That.

I do that but I only brew 8-9 times a year, so the first time I notice they're open, I close them.

    Don't Do That.

I've started closing the valve after cleaning. I no longer wait until I'm ready to brew.

    Counterpressure bottle filler....I know.

Is there supposed to be an oring between the stem that goes into the faucet and the main body? I was using mine today and it was leaking a bit around the threads. If there is one, I've already lost it.

    Counterpressure bottle filler....I know.

I got a Tapcooler for my birthday earlier this month. I used it on Tuesday and it worked very well. I only filled one bottle and I need a bit more practice with it.

    Don't Do That.

My RO system feeds right into my HLT with a float valve to shut it off so I can walk away from it. It also helps if one remembers to shut the valve on the HLT. I didn't. A couple of gallons of water on the floor. Don't do that! (Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've done that.)
