    The ale is very weak, no body and a bit malty. So rather than dump it, can I use it for my next brew for mash water? Maybe to increase the new Beers body and flavor.

    Im just thinking tht Both are big Barley exporters and the US Barley growers are for the big brewers from what I can find, so I am looking for some other avenues. I can get wheat and oats and spelt to malt from the Amish. Maybe US barley will make a comeback

    My Double choco stout though Head retention is weak its fabulous, and my Porter which is pretty good, just used basic recipes and tweaked slightly , All grain and Loving it. Though my glass seems to have a leak in it I can never get a pic of the stout with the glass full

    Barley Growers?

    Im planning on starting small Barley plots in my backyard and will let you know if I discover any tricks. I do try to garden Organically though I cant control what neighbors use and spray. I have grown Rye and Oats with out any issue zone 5 midwest.

    Looking for a grain mill that's not too pricey. Recommendations. I have been using a blender but its either too fine or too course. Wifey has a Wondermill I got hooked up to Dewalt drill but its messy, like the big hopper types.

    That way if worse comes to worse i will have some barley to add and if I have to go all oats or all wheat thats ok too

    After seeing the news yesterday, I have barley to plant and I think some of my lawn is going to become a micro Barley field along with any free space in the garden. Maybe I can get 2 crops.

    Side note Im going to use Maple tap water for my Cream ale this weekend if I get enough in my buckets. Otherwise I may freeze some for my spring brews. Its on my list to do a maple sap beer and then add some maple syrup at kegging

    I have seen a documentary on beer in Asia and there was aplace using Red beans, because Barley was hard to find and some other things like potatoes, which is intriguing.
