    Braumeister, Brewtools or Grainfather?

If I were making your choice, (it looks like you are prepared to spend some money) I would go with; Spike or Blichmann Kettle weld as many TC connections as required Brew Hardware TC clamp heating elements Blichmann BrewCommander or Brewhardware's version of the Auber Cube 3E Wilser Bag for...

    Braumeister, Brewtools or Grainfather?

If you want to factor in long term consideration, I suggest you do not go with a whole brand system. I like purchase modular parts the could fail and you would a choice if replacements. Invest in a kettle, select a heating source(s) get a contoller, figure out if you want to bag or basket. If...

Water chemistry for milk stout using distilled

I understand. It looks as if you a bit of a newby to homebrewing and water. I was giving you some general rules of thumb on the topic.

Lookin for a diagram for 50 amp control panel

IMO The Auber Instruments current/voltage meter is strongly recommended. For troubleshooting and verifying power current it is a smart expenditure of $17.50. The power on indicator is also a good idea.

Water chemistry for milk stout using distilled

I am going to advise to ignore water treatment that you might find in a random recipe. If they state specifically they are using distilled water or reverse osmosis, AKA RO water, then you can consider it. But double check with a water tool. If the recipe uses a random and unknown to you water...

    Unfortunate mashtun.

I did some research on line about bleach. I found a federal site and a state site. They specify a recipe. I forget the exact ratio. Something like 3 tablespoons per gallon. Significantly less than full strength is my point. I did not see any mention contact time. I did not see any mention...

    Please, pronounce it "wert"!

I heard one expert claim that when you see a movie or TV show about America during and before the American revolution, and people walking around with posh British accents, using thee and thou and pronounce things like wah-tah for water is BS. The American english accent at the time and the...

    Please, pronounce it "wert"!

A while ago it was asked of several people who should know, but nobdody could agree and was not settled. How do you pronounce the wonder hop spelled SAAZ?

    Unfortunate mashtun.

Murph4231, Interesting information. Thank you for the insight, As one of the posters on this thread promoting using bleach, I would like to learn more. Do you have any links or references that I can look at and expand my understanding?

Your thoughts on rice hulls for BIAB

Do not mill rice hulls. Mix the rice hulls in after grain bill has been milled. That is the point of rice hulls, to have stuff that is large and to put some non-sticky parts between the sticky bits.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I have an Anvil 10.5 gallon. Could I use one of the Turbo 500 distilling condensor products in place of a conventional steam slayer?

Buying grain mill vs buying crushed grains

I guess I am conditioned to think of home brewers are (on the whole) a frugal bunch. I include myself a member of the penny pincher club. if the money is not an issue, than go for it.

    How to use sanitizer products?

PBW vs Oxyclean. I am in the camp of PBW is worth the extra expense. When I look at 50¢ per dose vs 25¢ per dose, the "twice as expensive" is not a factor for me. Plus I have had bad outcomes with Oxyclean and nothing but good results using PBW. Many disagree with me. Many say that have used...

Buying grain mill vs buying crushed grains

With a grain mill, you can literally dial in the crush that is best for you. There is no universal crush that is best for all mash and sparge styles. so you get what is best for you. Plus you can adjust the gap to accommodate different grains. I.e. the optimum gap for barley malt might be...

Malt muncher 3 roller loves to rust

Keep it in an air tight container, like a jumbo Tupperware. Keep some damp rid in the Tupperware container.

    Extract brewer eyeing BIAB

IMHO Some homebrewers (especially beginners) are way too distracted by efficiency and by extension the "quality" of their grain crush.. There are more important variables and processes to concentrate on during the brewing process. For example, the mash, maintaining and regulating mash temps is...

    Rye malt extract

I think rye is best mashed with some two row. I do not think you could do a mini mash of 100% rye malt. Even if you could, why not include some two any way?

    Rye malt extract

Williams brewing says they have it. Sounds like an excuse or opportunity to add a new tool to your brewing skills and do a partial extract mash. Good chance you already own everything you need. Maybe buy a grain bag.
