Went the megapot direction. Thanks guys.

    Brew kettle?

I agree that a keggle would make the most sense. I do need the option of brewing inside as well, so the keggle isn't an option. I'll check out the megapot. Thanks for the help guys.

    Brew kettle?

Just picked up a banjo burner. Suppose to really blow the heat. I like the keggle idea, but that's probably more than I need right now. Really looking to do full 6 or 6.5 gallon boils. Really like the spigot idea...

    Brew kettle?

Does anyone have experience with a Brewers Edge brew kettle? Looking at the 40 qt version and comes with a spigot. Price is pretty low from what I can tell. But I guess you get what you pay for, $85.

    Honey Pale Ale

Planning for my second recipe, the first Cherokee IPA is in the primary, eagerly waiting to be kegged:rockin:. Wanted to go a different direction for this brew. Something a little lighter, fruity and malty, a springtime beer. Interested in definite honey notes, without actually having to use...

    Feedback on recipe

Guys all went well today with this recipe. Only a couple of rookie mistakes. First I took the og after pitching the yeast, just minutes so I hope that's no biggie. Here's what might be the biggest thing. The target og was 1.069 and the actual og was 1.062. Thoughts? It does fall within the...

Dry Hoppping - to bag or not to bag

How about in the primary after the fermentation is complete or is the best method to rack to the secondary, dry hop, cold crash and accept some will end up in the keg? That last bit over a couple of weeks, not all one step.

Dry Hoppping - to bag or not to bag

So here's what I'm now thinking based on feedback. How about tossing the pellets into the primary after fermentation is completed. Then after 5 days or so carefully rack to secondary making sure I leave all of the crud in the primary. Then after 7 days cold crash for a couple of days, then keg...

Dry Hoppping - to bag or not to bag

Never dryhopped before, here's my question. I don't bottle my beers, just keg. I'm worried about the pellets making it into the keg and clogging up the tube. I planned on cold crashing after a week, sending the yeast (and pellets?) to the bottom of my secondary bucket. When I keg the beer it...

    Feedback on recipe

I have struggled with finding a reliable tool. I've been using hopville but will try beer calculus. As a mac user beer smith and Promash aren't available. Thanks again, very helpful stuff). So I see beer calculus and hopville are one in the same. Which ibu calc do you suggest? With Tensith Im...

    Tools for recipe formulation

Thanks guys. Looks like Beersmith and Promash are not mac compatible. Hopville had it @ 52 which is in line with what I was expecting. But it freaked me out a little with such a wild swing. The other numbers came from tasty brew.

    Tools for recipe formulation

I have tried several on line tools recently to help with developing a new IPA recipe. Problem is I get a huge variation related to the IBU calculations, one calcs 54, another 152 with all variables the same. Is their an on line tool that is proven? Looking at a 2 gal extract boil with this hop...

    Feedback on recipe

Thanks all, just what I was looking for. With the suggested hop schedule do I adjust the amounts to keep the ibu up there or keep it @ 2.5, 1.5, 1.5 and .5?
