    STC 1000 problems

You should have a wire nut for the power cord hot and then hots to #1 and #7. Then you run #8 into the gold side of the outlet. Does that sound like what you've got going?

    STC 1000 problems

The default compressor delay is 3 minutes. You have to wait that amount of time before the freezer will kick on. If everything is wired correctly and you didn't change the default for that then all you need to do is wait. If that doesn't work, maybe you got a bad unit. edit: You should check a...

    Tropical Blond Ale

You ever had a Kona Big Wave? This recipe looks pretty similar to those stats. Would be interested in hearing how a side-by-side went...

You guys do realize... (overhyped beers)

I had the 02-15-13 one. It was OK; maybe a little to dank and barn-yardy for me. Perhaps a fresh pint straight from the brewery... Any other recommendations?

You guys do realize... (overhyped beers)

I love a fresh bottle of Pliny. It's a very well-rounded beer. I've had a lot of Sculpin, mostly draft, and it's just not as well-rounded. Hop Stoopid is nice, but not quite there. Lagunitas Sucks is not my favorite; if Hopslam tastes like that, then no thanks. Never had HT, but a friend lives...

So I tried to drink a Coors light today.

I used to buy Coors Light because it was the cheapest beer I could buy that I could stand. I wouldn't buy expensive beer because I'd take it to my friends and they'd drink a lot of it and never give me any money. Usually they would not buy beer the next time either. It doesn't taste good, but...

So I tried to drink a Coors light today.

Whenever I hear people defend BMC beers because they are well-made and take a lot of effort to engineer, I always think of Tommy Boy when he's selling the brake pads to the guy in the factory and they talk about the guarantee on the box: Pardon the language if you are sensitive to such things.

    Brewing in San Diego

I'm right down the street from American. The prices are definitely steep. I didn't have a problem with the guy when I went in; he seems alright, just old school. He didn't seem to really know what I was talking about either time. The first time I went was the first time I was ever making a...

How do you guys keep people from taking your good beer at parties?

Anyone that brings BMC to a party but then drinks much better beer deserves to never party again. I hate it when people think it's ok to replace something with an inferior and cheaper version, as if it's somehow fair just because it is the same type of thing. My ex-roommates used to do that with...

    Anyone wants an Iranian friend?

Do you have plastic bottles of fruit juice in Iran? I assume so; we're not THAT different, are we? You could always get bottles of juice (like apple juice or cranberry) that do not have preservatives and throw some yeast in, cover with aluminum foil or plastic wrap, and wait a few weeks. Sure...

    Loquat (Japanese Plum) Wine

I'm going to make a batch of something like this this weekend. The fruit is coming around in the neighbors yard and plenty to be had on my side of the fence, so I should use it since they don't even touch them. I was thinking about asking if I could go into their yards to get to them because it...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Can't say I agree on Goose Island. I enjoy most of their stuff. I'm probably a bit biased due to my location.

    2013 Hop Rhizome Presale!

Wow, what a difference less than a day makes. The Mt. Hood is now one of the stronger looking bines. Amazing, considering last time I looked, there wasn't anything. 6/6. Thanks again Arrowhead.

    2013 Hop Rhizome Presale!

5 out of 6 of my rhizomes are going pretty well. I was worried about the williamette at first, but that now seems to be one of the strongest ones with three little guys now peeking out of the soil. They are all at a stage where they look a whole lot like another plant in their family. Not much...

    2013 Hop Rhizome Presale!

Decided to go with 5 big pots for all but the Mt. Hood since I am not really sure where to put them in the yard where they'd A) get enough sun and B) be able to grow vertically at least 10 feet. Centennial and Cascade have sprouted already. No sign on the others. I think I may dig up the Mt...

    Hoppy beers a trend?

I think this is being over thought a little. Even older people are turning onto craft beer. It just so happens that the polar opposite of a BMC lager is probably a hopped up IPA.
