What is the big deal about Belgian Beers?

Call me faddish. I really enjoy the super hoppy IPAs, and even more so the Belgians. I gave up brewing many years ago due to being unexcited about most beers that I could reasonably produce as an extract brewer. Recently though, I started drinking Belgians, specifically Duvel, and most of the...

Ever have a credit card number stolen???

I was just told by Mastercard (HSBC Bank) that some Vancouver Bank, LLC or some such called them in an attempt to verify my address, gave them a wrong address and phone, and wanted them to provide the correct one (which they did not). My new card is on the way. Just a note that this seems...

Ever have a credit card number stolen???

Yeah I shopped with you. Yeah, I got a $3.93 probe charge that was rejected by my CC company. No, I will not hesitate to shop with you again. Your CC processing tools, techniques, and providers have undergone a lot of scrutiny lately, and should be pretty dang solid now; as solid as could be...

    NG -> Propane burner conversion

NG does not burn as hot as propane nor usually have as much pressure. The NG orifices will be larger than the propane ones as you need to burn more gas to compensate. Why plug the burners, I simply don't know, but I would want to un plug them. More flame, more heat. I will say a natural gas...

Help me create an electronic signature

You can take it one step further like I did, and create a brush with it in either photoshop or gimp (search online for tutorials on how to. I know there is one on DeviantArt.com). When I want to drop my sig in, I just select the brush tool and stamp it wherever I want.

Bulk Irish Moss: Coarse or Fine?

This just in. When bottling my IPA that was clarified using the powdered Irish Moss, it was very clear. It may or may not be better than the lumpy/clumpy stuff, but is certainly it certainly did a good job.

    Yet another new label

The QR code has the bottling date and the link to the kit at austin home brew. This way I can later go back and recreate it if I want to.

Chimay Grande Reserve - Recipe Help

I have seen two distinct recipes for this, both with dark candy sugar, and both with paradise seed. Don't know if this info may help, but thought I would throw it out there.

    What else could go wrong?

I did brew again, as you recommended. Such a different story. A Newcastle clone from AHS. To say everything went flawlessly would be an exaggeration, but it went pretty well. I even managed to pull off a fly sparge and hit 90% efficiency overall. Mash temps hit and remained spot on. My...

Here is my new IPA label, created using the resources on DeviantArt (and credited appropriately:) Thanks gregger) I wanted something subdued and monochromatic, quite unlike the beer inside. Here it is on the bottles:

    Aerating wort AFTER pitching ...problems?

In the early '90s, before I knew to aerate, I made several successful beers, without a single failure. Aeration helps, but is NOT the end of the world.

    First Trappist Style Ale

Wow, and I think Chimay Blue is among the best beers I have had. And it's cousin St Bernardus Abt 12 is the pinnacle. I simply shows one man's trash is another man's treasure. Who knew?
