    Cleaning a BetterBottle

I used an L shaped carboy brush, never used a better bottle but they are supposed to be more scratch resistant, dirty carboys are a pain to clean if left dirty. I always try to rinse and clean mine immediately after racking out of one, and I try not to ferment in them ...

    kegging question pleaze help!

I always force carb a bit and can drink the next day. I get the beer cold, pressurize to 30 psi, and then shake it down to 25 psi 4 or 5 times. I force on the lighter side and then have the brew get up to ideal levels over a couple days, the minor force just gives it a good jump start. this is...

    Whats this?

Did a 15 gallon batch and in one of my buckets I have some funny looking floaties at the top. Smells very yeasty, but has a whiter color and makes me wonder. its like a thin film .. This beer has been in the bucket for about three weeks, two weeks in the garage at what I would estimate to be 50...

    Filtering Hops

That makes sense to the chemist in me. they are already used up so to speak.

    Filtering Hops

Sounds good, but I have dry hopped kegs before, from the same batch and noticed a flavor difference .. if it can do that at 35 degrees, it would make sense that sitting at 68 would do something too, I dont know. I usually brew pretty hoppy beers, just trying to figure out why my 20 IBU blonde...

    Filtering Hops

I always pour my wort straight from the kettle into the fermenter. Been making some lighter IBU batches lately that still some out pretty hoppy. I'm using beersmith so all my numbers should be right. It got me to thinking though, to get accurate numbers should I be filtering out the hop residue...

    Pink beer

awesome, thx for all the quick feedback. I'm sure I will be able to get it done. may just go the route of adding some food coloring to a blonde ..

    Pink beer

I have been asked to make pink beer for a baby shower .... I am thinking this is possible but not sure, is there some food coloring that could be mixed with a light blonde style ale and produce a pink color ? I have heard something of green beer for st. pattys day so it seems doable.

High ABV brew foaming in keg line

not sure, thats a good idea though. I did burp the keg to get all the pressure out, but I guess that would not effect the amount of CO2 that is actually dissolved in the brew.

    Fixing Malty brew

Exactly what I was thinking dry hopping the current kegs wont work well enough to balance out teh funk .... I have 10 gallons of nasty 9.5% brew. I think I am going to boil six gallons of water down to 5 gallons, with enough hops to equal about 150 IBU's, then mix this with the ten gallons to...

    Fixing Malty brew

Ok well I had some of my kegs filled at a local brew pub for a birthday party .. ( my stock was running low ) one of the brews they gave me I cant stand. I have to fix it somehow. Its as light in color as a blonde but has an ABV of 9.5% it reminds me of that high gravity steel reserve but not...

High ABV brew foaming in keg line

I am completely stumped to figure this out. I have a keg system that works well. 4 kegs, in fridge, shanks through the door, about 10 feet of line for each tap. I have never had an issue since doing my keg line math. I have a brew that likes to foam when dispensed, very badly. it foams almost...

    Keg Heaven

yeah, i'm not far from that logic, I already own a company though and have more work than I need. To me theres only so much I can do in a day and keep my sanity. 200 lbs sounds high, whats the weight of one keg x 16 ? that + the pallet. maybe .. kegs cant be more than 5 pounds each though...

    Keg Heaven

Cool sounds like a plan then. I would appreciate any extra help and it would be nice to meet up with some local brewers for future bulk buys from north country malt or such. I think I really hit a common thread with this guy so lets take a tally of how many want some and I can approach him with...

    Keg Heaven

yeah shipping may kill it .. I want to help but I'm a pretty busy guy. Switching out the posts took me a good hour to do right. getting them boxed and shipped would probably be too time consuming for me .. I told the guy he needs to make a keg outlet web store .. and websites are what I do so...

    Keg Heaven

There were about 5 Indian looking guys there loading up a box truck. The owner told me they had just bought 5 thousand for some plant in India .. He also told me that Chinese plants do not like the ones with red rubber tops for some reason... funny considering how they have been in the news with...

    Keg Heaven

Paid a visit today, got ten kegs for $150, , well 140 plus a case of Gatorade that I picked up for the guy. These guys are cool, he let me switch out the pin lock posts with ball locks, and gave me spare lids, posts, popits etc .. he told me to just come back if I need any spare parts. The...
