    Stout Stainless Counterflow Chiller

Still have the Shell and tube, sitting on a shelf with my copper chillzilla. I have a stainless one that Williams sold a few years back. I debated running both the Shell and tube with my CFC, but I like simple. Rather have one efficient unit.

    Stout Stainless Counterflow Chiller

I have both a stainless and copper convulated chiller, only use stainless one now. Would love some more efficiency. Guess time to upgrade again. Thoughts on mounting this 30lb beast?

How much line cooling do I need?

With the fridge and 45 degree, the beer in the line was not all dumpers. It was for the most part fine, little foam at the start. Little less carbonated.

How much line cooling do I need?

Also, I use cheap Hing Kong submersible pump, they add heat to the solution, might get better efficiency moving that outside the cool applicance for the water loop.

How much line cooling do I need?

Hate to say, but a cold liquid loop is prob required, does not have to be glycol, a mini fridge, 12$ pond pump and old keg worked for my 27 ft for a while. Lowest line temp I could get was 45ish. I had some foaming issues and c02 lose in beer as keg temp was 35-38. Change in temp affected...

How much line cooling do I need?

There is some combo of 3/16 and 1/4 that would work. All 1/4 is not required.

How much line cooling do I need?

I guess to answer your question. I do indeed splice 1/4 to 3/16 with stainless splicers, I do this 6" from tap lines to step down to fit over stainless tower lines. You could use the same process to splice 5ft of 3/16 trunk to some length of 1/4. I think it would be a guessing game. For the...

How much line cooling do I need?

I run 27ft of 1/4 line, glycol is required. That much line means a pint is in the lines. But the line premade, doing yourself, pita

counterflow chiller - Stainless or Copper.

I have both, copper chillzilla and stainless version. Copper definitely faster but I recirc to around 140 so the diff for me was not signafigant. If you go copper, I can sell you my old one, just sitting in my shelf.

On Serving: A Look at Total Oxygen Ingress

I ran 27ft of 1/4 barrier tubing(eaton brand) and 15 ft of co2(standard reinforced vinyl) and experience oxidation in the beer line. My tubing holds around a pint, after two weeks if not pouring a neipa, first beer(all in lines) is darker slightly nfrom second(all in keg). 4 weeks in lines...

CFC...straight to the fermentor or back in the kettle?

I whirlpool to 140, then into fermator. You can do with out it, just adjust your flow. I like to drop the wort temp below 140 to stop the hop action and also do whirlpool hops.

cryo hops/lupulin powder dry hopping question

Beer is on tap, works great, some fine dust in first few hours, all good now. Still some hop burn, think i shook it a tad tapping. Prob settle out by next week. Definitely different than same beer, no dry hop in keg. Fruiter more aroma. I used 3 oz of luplin powder, 1 each of Simcoe...
