    Thinking about a bike

I'm w the guy who says bicycle. Even if not for your commute in addition to a motorcycle if the distance is over 10 miles or really rugged. It'll make you feel great, lose weight and best of all drink just as much beer!!!! **** yeah!

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I've had my first batch made exactly to Ed's recipe in the fermentor for five weeks and thieving a taster, I thought it was great! Gotta get more going and read up here on opinions on carbing. Should make great holiday favors next Christmas!

    British Mild hop regime.

Hey guys I'm mashing up 8lb 2-row, 8lb German pils, 1.5 lb Maris, 1 Cry 60, and .5 Cry 120 to be pitched with Lallemands British ale yeast. I'm kinda bent on a hallatertau/Saaz hop regimen, but I'm looking for thoughts and opinions on the application as well as other hop additions. Thanks!

    Curious about cheaper buckets.

I recently got some cheaper food grade bucket fermentors from my LHBS and notice that their not nearly as opaque as the white ones I've always used. Anyone think there's an issue with uv penetrating these buckets? They're not in direct sun, but they're not in the closet.

    Abundant Pilsner Malt.

In that I think the next logical experiment will be to substitute the pils into a standard recipe (with Chico type yeast) and taste the difference. Thanks.

    Abundant Pilsner Malt.

I'm a home-brewer, so brewing whatever i want is the idea. Skunk being a subjective term and not the corn mash flavor of dimethyl (or whatever it's called) that pilsner malt can produce from short boils or inadequate chilling, but a very distinct bitter maltiness of course; which is why most...

    Immersion wort chiller question

I think the advantages of an immersion chiller are 1) you can jack it around and aerate while you chill and 2) you can chill down to a temp that you'd like to pitch. Neither of which are options with a plate chiller. I can't see any problems w your idea, but I do wonder what you think the...

    Abundant Pilsner Malt.

I like to make a classic Keewenaw summer ale that consists of pilsner base, Vienna and wheat, lightly hopped w Mt Hood. However, it takes a particular palette to enjoy the skunky bitterness of a pilsner base ale. Nonetheless, I've got a 55lb bag of German Pilsner to deal with (no method for...

Dry hopping -Jon's stupid question of the day

Is it believed hop oils will permeate up from the bottom? Why is it important to sink when a floater is entirely in solution?

Dry hopping -Jon's stupid question of the day

Who's throwing it into the boil? Homeboys asking about secondary!

    Leaving head-space in kegs.

Groovy, I use Sankes and usually push a bit out when I drop the tube in, so its really full! I hate beer in the gas lines too of course, but since I got a micromatic coupler with a floating ball I haven't had a drop go backward which is really sweet. I've become a big fan of natural...
