    Boil Question

Making a crazy assumption right now, but you Mash at 170 degree's? I normally transfer from my HLT when it gets to 164, which hits right around 154 once fully transferred and mixed in with the grain. Then I let that sit for an hour and transfer to kettle on low flame. Then I mash out with a...

    Would you buy this freezer?

When I got my cheapo craigslist refrigerator I did bleach, air dry, bleach, air dry and then rubbed it down with some cut lemons from my backyard. Pretty much took care of the odor. Also for rust I did sand paper, petroleum jelly, rustoleum primer, and finally chalkboard paint.

    Attempting My First (Brooklyn) Brew!

Huh, I coulda swore the first porter I did all those moons ago was from them and it was an extract kit.

    Fermentation temperature

I did my Brooklyn recipes in a small mop bucket with some ice. Changed it out maybe once every 24 hours and it worked fine. If you've got a cooler you could put the little jug in there and use ice packs to help contain the mess a little better and use less water.

    Attempting My First (Brooklyn) Brew!

I did brooklyn brews for my first year. They make some tasty stuff but from experience I wouldn't secondary. Heck, I hardly do so now unless I'm making crazy additions, like cocounut to my porter. As far as straining I simply had a wire colander that sat nicely in a second pot. I highly...

    Worst brew day ever

Brew day 2 weeks ago I find that a roommate ran over the garden hose, there was some 'growth' in my hot liquid lines, and a buddy of mine moved the turkey fryer while I was grabbing grains. The rubber hose ended up touching the metal leg. I caught it as flames started to spurt out. Needless to...

    Odd Kegerator Idea

Hey guys, sorry to have abandoned the thread but work has been absolutely slamming me. So I ended up with a standard kegerator. I was able to get the kegs to fit and everything worked out beautifully... but it was just a pain in the ass to deal with. Thanks for all the tips!

    Odd Kegerator Idea

Whelp, the local homebrew shop sells kegs that are 25 inches tall, so time to scour the internet for some shorter kegs. Any recommendations?

    Odd Kegerator Idea

Currently I'm using an upright refrigerator/freezer combo to ferment in with a Johnson controller. I was planning on turning it into my kegerator after building a fermentation chamber, but then noticed something. My corny kegs can fit into the top freezer if laid down. This has lead me to what...
