Things about your co-workers that annoy you

Singing to whatever is on the radio.. constantly. I have to listen to this 8 hours a day
  2. HB_ATL73

How long do YOU boil ?

Rarely 90 min boil. Large majority are 60 min boils. I have recently started doing 30 min boils for a shorter brew day and have had no ill effects

Boiled whole hops instead of steeping (DIPA)

well you know what 2oz of whole cascade is going to give you little IBU relative to the rest of the hop additions. I wouldn't even worry about it

Boiled whole hops instead of steeping (DIPA)

What amount of whole hops did you use?

Boiled whole hops instead of steeping (DIPA)

Someone that has experience with mash hopping can chime in as I don't use this technique but your IBU are likely going to be dramatically different(lower) had you done the way that was instructed. So you would expect to have a beer with greater bitterness

New Dank Citrus IPA Recipe Help

that's getting your GU/BU lower at least around 1.3. still bitter but better than the 1.7 or so it was. Its my personal preference but any time I start adding over a pound of crystal into a heavy hopped beer it starts to get too sweet for me so I would keep it as is for the crystal.

Can I use my beer pots for cooking other stuff?

Used to do low country boils in my 15 gallon pot. Just clean well afterwards

Just cutting out that Magnum charge might just do it. At ~1.060 I think lowering the IBUs is a good idea

    The sad day finally Arrived

My first one broken was probably within the first month brewing. Grabbed it by the stem and shook it to dry it off.. Snap!

    Did I ruin my beer

Time will tell. Hey, at least its beer now and has alcohol in it. Should help fight off any nasties

First Brew Day in the Books!

I'm interested in starting to purge my kegs using the fermentation. Do you have to keep the PRV open on the lid?

5 gallon batch? If so then I think your IBUs are a bit high at over 100. Looking at it in terms of BU/GU. Though, there are other factors that play a role in the perceived bitterness of a beer. Also, If you believe anything in hop saturation (some believe that 8 grams per liter is all you need)...

    Recipe suggestions

Just a tip too. Do a price comparison of the kits vs ingredients. I used to do this when I brewed extract- most times the kit is actually cheaper than buying the ingredients individually

    Question about fermentation smell

Oh and please let us all know when he starts pulling his hair out listening to the airlock bubbling when fermentation starts :D

    Question about fermentation smell

:D this is hilarious. @Katten I say you just keep the fermenters in hiding and let him try to figure out where the smell could be coming from. Make something up- 'I don't know where that smell is coming from.. maybe there's something in the vents'.. I don't know something to that manner ;)
