Stout Tanks and Kettles brew rig (photos)

On the 20 gal. kettles, the thermowell is now about at the 5 gal. mark. The false bottom is about 2" off the bottom to get it above the outlet, which means there is around 3 to 3.5 gal. of space for grain between the false bottom and the thermowell. We also have a 20 gal. mash tun with an...

Stout Tanks and Kettles - $400 14.5 Gal Conical

If your beer hose stays full of liquid the height of the valve doesn't matter - it is the height of the beer inside the fermenter that will affect things. Your hose could go up and over the lip of your bottling bucket and as long as it is full and the end is lower than the beer in the...

Stout Tanks and Kettles - $400 14.5 Gal Conical

For the Stout Tanks 14.5 gal. conical with a ring-clamp lid - please install the gasket with the groove pointing up into the lid, not down onto the tank. I think that is why you are not getting a seal.

Stout Tanks and Kettles - $400 14.5 Gal Conical

This is John from Stout Tanks. This seal problem is unusual - but we are looking at this gasket to see how we can make it more robust and prevent this.

    Craigslist Conical Fermenters (not mine)

This is John from Stout Tanks - our website is www.conical-fermenter.com. The original post in Scranton is not associated with us in any way whatsoever. People seem to be mixing up their satisfaction with our products and services with the other one, which has no track record from what I...

Stout Tanks and Kettles - $400 14.5 Gal Conical

Hi - the trick is to put the gasket in when it is dry, and then spray it with sanitizer. If it's wet, it is harder to keep it in place while you install the lid.

    7.3 gal SS Conical Fermenter

Hi CrankyBeaver, We don't have any specials coming up... but I know our products compare well to those. Our 60 degree cone is optimum for brewing. The valves, clamps, gaskets, and hose barb are included on ours. Also, you can remove the top and inspect your fermenter close up to ensure it is...

    7.3 gal SS Conical Fermenter

This is John from Stout Tanks - that isn't one of ours. Note the threaded fittings - we don't do that. And note the hole for a thermometer - we provide a sanitary thermowell design instead. Cheers, John

    temp control conical fermenter idea

We have made fermenters like that. It's a lot more cost effective than jacketing on small homebrew fermenters. The only potential downside I see is that you can get sweating on the tank in the warm weather.

    Conical Question

Hi Louie0202, The hose barb has 2 jobs - one is for your blowoff (run a tube to a small bucket of sanitizer). The other is you can use it to put CO2 into the fermenter (up to 4 psi) for pushing your fermented beer into a keg. Cheers, John/Stout Tanks and Kettles

    1 barrel bright beer tanks

This is John from Stout Tanks and Kettles. Our lead times for special/custom order items are normally 3.5 to 4.5 months. We do have some common "special order" items available sooner than that, and some in stock. We did have long lead times at the beginning of this year due to a factory...

Stout Tanks and Kettles - $400 14.5 Gal Conical

This is John from Stout Tank and Kettles. The purpose of the long outlet is to keep the flames away from the valve if your burner is overshooting the kettle. If it is an issue for you, we could shorten it (and have done so for some customers). I think it does not look as nice as a shorter...

    Boil in conical sanitization question

You could still have contaminants in your valves - boiling in the fermenter may or may not get them sanitized, which would be a potential problem during the fermentation. I'd be interested to hear back how well this works out if you go ahead with it. It seems a little bit risky from a...
