    Blackcurrent melomel

Have to admit I have no clue what a blackcurrent is. I'm sticking with traditionals till I've learned a good deal more. And I started with a peach melomel.

    Blackcurrent melomel

Yes sir. And the basic idea I got from it was there is no such thing as mead yeast. Lol

    Blackcurrent melomel

From the reading I have done the sweat mead yeast is kind of a oxymoron. It seems the lavlin strains are some of the best. Other then that I'm not sure. :)

    Blueberry lemon mead

Haha golddiggie beat that into me. I just started 2nd fermentation on a peach melomel. Ill be honest it looks horrible. Strong alcohol smell, not much of a honey flavor when I added the peach purée. But the more I research and the more he said patience patience patience. I finally figure it...

    Pecan Mead recipe?

If I'm understanding you all right. If you make your own extract you get the liquid extract in its purest form and nuts that have a alcohol taste to it ?

    Mead and Secondaries

What fatbloke said. Not rushing mead is key. If it ferments for months let it go unless you are crashing it for specific taste.

    Blueberry lemon mead

Also. Taste changes over time. Patience is rule 1 of making mead.

    Blueberry lemon mead

Mead takes time. From what I've found with a melomel it's best to use half fruit in first and half in second. But if you want a stronger fruit flavor save most of the fruit for second fermentation.

    A few questions

I can not answer that. Hopefully fatbloke or golddiggie sees this. I just did my first racking into my carboy and added 9 lbs of peach purée and it does not look to great lol. Has a strong alcohol smell. The taste is ok but not like meads I have tried. So as golddiggie says I'm gonna put it in a...

    Airlock is not bubbling

I have learned a lot in a few weeks on here from a few knowledgeable and nice people. As was said honey is hard to spoil. Do not boil it there is no need and you lose to much good stuff. Patience is a virtue with mead. That's rough I'm so excited about my first batch I'm gogogogoooo. Yeast...

    A few questions

Well I think it's more of a factor if the vodka gets into the must no harm no foul. If the sanitizer gets in eeeeew. But I have been careful.

Jack. Where are you located ? Oklahoma City has learn to brew stores. Fermentor buckets about 19$ with air lock. And I think he said 6 gallon carboys are 39$ for glass cheaper plastic. Tulsa has a store or two also That's where I'm going. If you want fresh honey I know a bee keeper in noble...

    A few questions

I need to get some cheap vodka myself. I've been using water with just s little bit of sanitizer. I haven't had any problems.

    A few questions

I was told can stir it 1-2 times a day. Special during first 10 days. Then ignore it not that it hurts to stir it beyond. It's a patience game.

    A few questions

If its fermenting you can stir it but I wouldn't add to it. If its not broke don't fix it. Over the first 6 days a lot of ppl suggest adding nutrients. At least from what I have learned on here.
