    What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

    I don't know how many times I've burnt my nose, and the smell seeps into my throat, leaving me just about gasping for air.. ginger beer was the worst for it actually, probably doesn't help that I'm a smoker too

    So what exactly is a gusher infection? The beer hasn't turned watery as yet, so I don't know.. I havnt died so I presume its not toxic, at least in relatively small doses :mug:

    I took the lid off the second time to remove the krausen collar for cleaning, notice there isn't around the rim anymore. The way the tub has been designed, makes cleaning a lot easier.

    22 year old me would say get those bastard neighbours in trouble with the cops, before the reverse happens. Also most cops seem alright, just casually invite a few over one weekend for pool, darts and a few coldies. That'll work wonders! Make sure they aren't driving afterwards though, dunno how...

    Yes, twist top bottles, makes it a lot easier I think.. I just put a measure of sugar into each bottle before filling them, used a different type of sugar than usual. Didn't think it would make a huge difference actually. Ok, thanks! That's my job for tomorrow, relieving pressure!

    Ok, so I opened a bottle of my wheat beer, and the foam started spraying, so I replaced the lid and waited for the head to die down, then cracked it again with a light push of co2. I know I cleaned and sanitised the bottles correctly, they get filled with the sanitiser outta my tub. Should I go...

    Just eating licorice bullets, I looked at the ingredients, basically pure sugar, molasses being the most prevalent one. Might try boiling some into a syrup, and using that instead of the closest I can get, which is treacle.

    Never hurts to take a hydro, from what I figure. Plus, take a taste. As long as everything is sanitised, there should be no problems. I try to taste each brew as I make it, initial, after 5 days then during bottling. I think the flavour changes give a uh something preview, before they all blend...

    How does molasses turn out with it? I really want to try it, although am yet to find a distributor that I can get it off locally, without going to a pet food shop and getting what might be pre contaminated, due to the fact its for horses.. if this is even possible

    Fermentation temps in the first few days

    Australia, it gets insane here at times.. even using cold refrigerated water the temp still skyrocketed in about 6 hours. But it tastes nice enough, perhaps a little scratchy although I think that will smooth itself out

    Well its three days old and at 6%, still bubbling but the foam has greatly subsided, smells really sweet. Also is really syrupy, that's good because I was looking forward to it this winter!

    So you times it by 130? I drop the decimal, then times it by 7.46.. sure it equals out the same way :) all goes down the same way anyway.
