Cake pan + skateboard wheel + bike brakes = homemade peristaltic pump??

No need - I'm an EE, and it was a joke. :)

Cake pan + skateboard wheel + bike brakes = homemade peristaltic pump??

Looked like a production model to me.

    No. That's Crew territory.

IIRC, Steve Sampson coached Costa Rica. (Wiki confirms it - 2002-2004.)

That was pretty good. Got a lot better as it went on. :)

Very nice. Good sound, too. You guys have been a great addition to the league, tho I want Brunner back. This video is long, but it remains to this day one of the greatest game atmospheres I've ever experienced. The 2008 Eastern Conference Final, between Columbus and the F*re (with ex-Crew...

That's a pretty good cheer. Which means at least half of the other MLS clubs will "borrow" it. The Nordecke were the first MLS club to use "We Luv Ya" (and are still the best at it, IMO), which I hear on nearly every TV broadcast now. :)

That's only weird because the Crew blew up their roster in the offseason. Historically, they've been a pretty strong team with an exception for a few years in the middle of the Aughts. Only DCU has won more Supporters' Shields. Only LA and DCU have won more major trophies.

Get to go to the Crew-Union match tomorrow. First match I've been able to make it to this year.

I do occasionally watch EPL games featuring American players, and the quality is very high, but I really couldn't care less. MLS is all I really care about watching, because the Crew are the only team I have a real attachment to.

MLS has inked a 3 year deal with NBC - 45 games, tho I'm guessing most will be on NBC Sports (what VERSUS will be re-branded as on Jan 2) and streaming, not on the mothership.

I've done that. Not in a game, mind, but I have done it. :rockin: Thankfully, Chicharito is out for next week's match. I'm going out of my mind wanting to see JK's selection, which is supposed to be announced today. I haven't been this interested in a pre-match roster announcement since the...

Pretty good save. Best moment last night was Jeff Cunningham's last-gasp game-winning goal. And not just because it gave my team the win - it pushed Jeffro into a tie for all-time MLS goalscoring lead, and broke a tie he had held with Brian McBride for something like 7 years for the Crew...

Kreis still has the fire in the belly, eh? This might be the most spectacular goal of the year here:

I only got to see the last 20 minutes (work), but that goal by Dos Santos in the 76th... WOW. God, I hate those bastards. Maybe even more than I hate the University of M*ch*g*n. The red hot passion of a 1000 suns.

Conical in and out of a freezer

    1) Build a platform 6 inches tall that you can crank up with a floor jack. Use a ramp to wheel the fermenter onto the elevator, raise the elevator, and then roll the fermenter into the chamber. 2) Build a longer, sturdier ramp (maybe with a 90 degree turn) that won't sag and won't be a steep...

Monitoring/controlling with Linux on the cheap

Definitely an idea that I'm going to have to address later on. One thing I've been pondering is PID control in this system. I've found a totally excellent PDF called "PID without a PhD" that includes some pseudocode for a software PID, and some guidance on tuning performance. Heh. Now I...

Monitoring/controlling with Linux on the cheap

It's important to separate the interface from the "business logic". Then you can have multiple interfaces! Have you thought about using a database? I've been mulling over logging to a MySQL database, and using the db to store configuration and state information. I've ordered my free...
