To keggle or not to keggle

I too like to use my bag in a basket. When it comes time to lift it is simple to hook my carabiner from my pulley to the bail handle and lift, easy to tote, and don't worry about a 20 lb dry grain bill busting a seam. To each his own.

If I had only one pot it would be like this: https://www.bayouclassicdepot.com/collections/bayou-classic-stainless-steel-stock-pot-kits/products/bayou-classic-62-quart-stainless-steel-stock-pot-kit-1160 Big enough to do higher gravity beer, small enough to move around, if you decide to drill it...

Well, don't rule out a drain yet...well maybe a floor drain, but you may be able to tie into one of the down stacks. Ok, I may be assuming that the drain are going from ground floor to basement to sewer... I knew I would be brewing when we built our house, but thought I would be using propane...

    Venting steam in my basement

As in it is in a finished part of basement or to far to run? Because we are dealing with low temps, pvc pipe will work fine and is cheap-ish to buy. Biggest cost would be an in-line bathroom exhaust fan. Just need to plan a slope so any condensation can not settle in low spot in pipe.

    Bottles vs Kegs

Like with my beers, I do both. I adjust recipes to finish with 6 gallons. 5 get kegged and balance gets bottled. I put the bottled on the shelf and see how they age.

    Juniper Branches

I think you may have a tough time trying to get branches, at least green branches, unless some you has one growing near you. You might check with a local arboretum or master garden office to see if there are any close by you can get branches from. I plan to do one myself when my yeast from...

    To bottle or to keg?

I do both, lol I adjust my recipes to have 6 gallon at the end. 5 go in a keg and then I bottle the remainder. The bottles go on the shelf and get tasted 3-9 months later. Then I make notes on which one taste better at what age. I'm not a hop head so most do better with some time on them.

    Brew pot 101 help

Not to answer for Estricklin, but I find that the more and better I brew, the more friends I have, lol. But yes if you are the only person drinking in the house, it might be better for you to make smaller batches. If you keg (or plan to) there are smaller 1.6 gal and 2.6 kegs that are great...
