    Stone Thunderstruck IPA

You got it. It's about ready to keg in about 4-6 days. And thanks for the input. As I said, I'm winging it. I've changed my next attempt to 11 Lbs 2-Row 3 Lbs 20 and 2 Lbs 60 and mashing at 148 for 90 minutes and then 156 for 40. We'll see.

    Stone Thunderstruck IPA

This is what I got back after emailing Stone: "Mash low temp, 148-149, add equal proportions of Vic's and Ella in the dry-hop, and go overboard. *If you get a 3 gallon yield on a 5 gallon ferment that should be about right." My current attempt at a Thunderstruck clone came in way short on the...

    Ferm fridge

You might want to put a circulation fan in there if you're worried about it (you can find small AC powered fans on Amazon for around $20) but you should be OK. Oh, and make sure your wife doesn't read this. Calling her things "junk" is probably not a good idea.

    Grainfather!!

Has anyone (besides me) lost the pump filter during boil? I'm pretty sure I must have knocked it off when I was stirring the wort (got a little over zealous). I've got a hop spider so hopefully I won't clog the pump later but I was just wondering if I was the only one to see this. I know I...

Bought a Keezer and Need Some Help

I have 3 taps dedicated to beer and one to carbonated water. My keezer will hold 5 corny's with no trouble so I keep one filled with water under carbonation as a backup so that when the one that is tapped runs out I can just swap over to the other thus always having carbonated water on hand. And...

Fitting a 1/2 barrel keg in a keezer....

I was wondering the same thing. I just replaced 2 5-gallon Corny's today and that was a pain. Lifting a 15-gallon keg over the edge of a keezer sounds damn hard. I mean, that's close to 150 pounds!

    Through-collar coffin keezer? (No tower)

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but my Keezer is a collar keezer with a complete wood enclosure around the freezer and lid. If this is what you are looking for check out the YAKB (Yet Another Keezer Build) thread.

    STC-1000 Placed Inside the Keezer

I did that to mine (see YAKB post) and have had no problems. I'm not that good of a carpenter so I knew that trying to install the controller on the front would be a disaster. I just took some silicone sealant and mounted the controller on the top-inside of the collar (for easy access). Has...

Chilled my wort in 5 minutes using $0

I used to do this when I was extract brewing. Although I wasn't so (please excuse the expression) fanatical about sterilizing the ice. I would just pop down to the local convenience store and get 2 or 3 bags of ice. A quick calculation gave me approximately 1 gallon for every bag of ice (3...

    YAKB (Yet another keezer build)

Thanks, I really like it. I've included the latest pic of it's current location and (hopefully) final touches. I got the bar towel rack and bottle opener attached and got it moved into the house. That was quite a job. I had to remove a section of railing from our deck, place a ramp and slide it...

    Keezer with new lid?

Cool, I misunderstood. But I was mainly just trying to show the SS tiles I installed as an option to the sheet metal you had mentioned. Either way would look pretty nice.

    Keezer with new lid?

Here's what I did: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=582964 It's not a new lid but you could you could do the sheet of ply that you suggested and finish it with the tiles I used.

    YAKB (Yet another keezer build)

Thanks for the kind words guys. The stainless tiles were my wife's idea. She mentioned seeing them somewhere and I just did a search on the Home Depot website. I just picked up a towel rack I'll be installing on the left front to hold a bar towel and a bottle opener with cap catcher to go on the...

    YAKB (Yet another keezer build)

I still have to figure out a handle to make it easier to open but for now it's done. The drip tray was pricey but well worth it IMHO. The faucets hold it in place so I didn't have to worry about drilling into the side of the freezer and hitting coolant lines. It does have a drain pipe on the...

    YAKB (Yet another keezer build)

OK, here's the project. I'm not sure yet how to edit this post with pictures so bear with me.

    YAKB (Yet another keezer build)

Well, I finally got my keezer finished this past weekend! I've had it running for about 3 weeks to make sure it would hold temps, even with it sitting outside in the Arizona sun. It's kept the inside at a nice 37 degrees. I'm using an InkBird temp controller. I originally was going with the...

Where to place my tap and attach drip tray

Looks good dude. After thinking more on my original reply (about building a stand for it) I came to the realization that maybe you could just place this on a counter in which case that faucet would probably be perfectly located. Just a random thought.

Where to place my tap and attach drip tray

Something I just thought of, since you moved the temp probe away from direct contact with the freezer section you might have trouble with over-cooling of the chamber. The probe and adjustment would have been calibrated for direct contact with the freezer. I remember I had trouble when I moved...

Where to place my tap and attach drip tray

Very nice, and it looks a lot like the way my old store-bought kegerator (soon to be replaced with a keezer) had all the coolant lines along the back inside the unit. Remember though that you will probably have to deal with massive amounts of frost build-up around the coolant lines. As for a...
