    PicoBrew Zymatic

Ha, indeed it would appear we have similar situations and requirements. Will you want to trade your braumeister and zymatic (and perhaps the pico) for a Z1 or Z2 later? Today it would make sense for me to have a Zymatic and a Pico pro, but once the Zs are available... I may want to trade. We'll...

I use a carbing stone and wait 48hrs before attempting to serve if I plan on drinking soon. If not, I skip the stone and carb over 5+ days. It does happen where the keg was left carbing for more than a week before tapped. Of course, not being in a hurry will help stabilize the beer I find. Even...

The pico is a closed system. Once the pak is inserted, you are able to pause the system, but the pak is sealed, so adding adjuncts in the pak is not possible. The alternative would be to use something like a hop basket directly in the keg. Since the system recirculates the wort from the step...

Humm, I have been looking at all of those other systems out there, and brewie is the only one that was supposed to come close to PicoBrew's appliances. I don't really consider the extract kit machines any competition. Could I bother you and ask why you would switch if it's not too indiscrete...

Upstate NY, VT, NH and ME there is often a border town with a rental address. They typically charge per delivery. It can make a huge difference. If UPS was more reliable and not trying to gauge me, I'd stick to that, but no other choice really. Fortunately enough, I live 45min away from the...

Yep, or you can combine batches and ferment in a conical. for more than 2 paks, I find the cost of the conical to be better than buying fermenting kegs. You need the space though. And BTW, 3Gal kegs don't fit in anything less than 5 cu ft I found. All the 4.x cu ft fridges I have tried, the...

I do this pretty much all the time. Most beers I like, I will do double batches. Ferment separately, then rack them to a 3Gal AEB keg. I keep the smaller kegs for brewing/fermenting, and in some cases, a single pak, that I am either trying or that I won't drink as much of.

I brew some heavier beer, and this krausen looks normal to me. I often sit neat the pico when brewing, I go and wipe the krausen off 3-4 times during the brew. You can also use anti foaming agents if you want and this really bothers you. Fermcap-s is an option, or so Fermcap-AT. Personally I...

It shouldn't be too bad. But let it sit a good 14 days. This is the longest fermenting pak I had by far. Next brew, consider all of the tips in here. I use 1 tsp personally, and I aerate the hell out of the wort before fermenting. Make sure everything is always squeaky clean and sanitize before...

@dkilday2 It's not the end of the world. Of course, it would be best not to, but the Pico has a descaling cycle as well. Get some descaler liquid for coffee machines and follow the instructions found on page 139 of the instructions. Just don't use hard water in the keg for the brewing, this will...

Oh, you want to do the opposite of what we have done? Darn, I threw mine out, I would have shipped them to you for free. As Buck is saying, many of us didn't use those kegs much. While the format is convenient, it does a terrible job at serving in my opinion. If you really want to continue...

?!? What are you looking for? Where will it go, between the bottle and the regulator? What connector size will the bottle have?

My pleasure. We all had the idea that FastFerment meant faster. I did not see any real difference in time, but I did see a difference in the temperature range that I was able to ferment. That meant a lot to me. I prefer to call it WarmFerment. So I would recommend to stay on the safe side and...

Hello Brian, Since you have a Pico Pro, you will be serving from a corny keg as well, right? In all cases, I wait 14 days for the fermentation to complete, I don't rush it. Only once, it was the Belle of the Ball I think, that took 16 days. If you really want to know, the Tilt is a good...

I would wait 2 weeks. I just finished this beer on the fast ferment schedule, it was supposedly done after 9 days at 83F, but it was clearly not done, so I left it 14 days, it's carbing now and the first sip to see how it was, was just fine. Without a tilt or another type of monitor other than...

I just finished 2 batches using these for the first time. I have to say, I was impressed with the ease of use/cleaning. It's a good idea, if you want to ferment 1 batch at a time. If you want to scale in the multi batch of the same batch, I'd say get a fermenter. A small 7.5Gal would be perfect...

Yeah, but they ran out of that one. It's still $600 most of the time. But I hear you. I would just keep it if I was you. Or trade it to Pico for a Z.

WTB a Zymatic. If anyone is planning on upgrading to the Z series and wants to get rid of their Z, or planned on selling it to PicoBrew; I would be interested in getting it off from you. Please PM if interested.

Never happened to me before. Done... is thawed and waiting a bit more before racking and carbing. Crossing fingers.
