New idea to identify beer/tap lines

I have 5-6ft lines on all my taps except one and that had all the leftover. I'll measure it today, but I thought it was over 10. Didn't seem to make any difference on my high co2 pours. I'll recheck everything today. That's exactly why I left it long, but it did seem to work.

New idea to identify beer/tap lines

Never thought of just reducing down from 8mm to 4mm (od). I was looking for the QD/shank screw fittings. Amazon sells the step downs and 2mm id PTFE tubing. The PTFE looks to be foodgrade but is O2 permeable. Guess that's no different from the days of using the old style beer lines. I'm just...

New idea to identify beer/tap lines

Don't remember what od was, but couldn't seem to find any fitting for that od. Found the post and dropped a reply to the guy. I'll see what he says. Post in thread 'Feedback on my first saison recipe?' https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/feedback-on-my-first-saison-recipe.735900/post-10458028...

Feedback on my first saison recipe?

Where can I find 2mm id and related fittings? Thanks

New idea to identify beer/tap lines

I saw them on a home brew store website after someone else mentioned using 2mm on another thread. Said they're used for getting high carb beers out of a keg. Would love to find a solution for that, as high carb beers just foam for me. Didn't see any fittings for that size though.

    Bochet (Max Miller)

I only did one bochet outside on propane, too much trouble. Do it in the oven now. Some do it in a slow cooker. Set the oven at 250, honey in a 16-18qt pot and let it go. I move the temp up to 270-280 if i want to baby sit it. Make sure your oven temp is accurate. Takes longer, but don't have to...

New idea to identify beer/tap lines

I used colored electrical tape for years (9 taps,) but when I finally ran out of a few colors I switched colored zip-ties. I also use pool balls as tap handles so the pool ball color matches the beer line zip-tie color. I like the zip-ties as i use them to keep the coils together as well, so...

When should I whirlpool for a clearer beer?

I manually whirlpool. At flame out, I take my spoon and stir for 30 seconds then wait for about 20-minutes. The wort falls clear and a nice hop/trub cone is left on the bottom of the boil kettle. I do it because I use a plate chiller and want to minimize the debris that may go through it. Make...

    Two or More RO tanks?

Would the permeate pump only work on a pressurized system, as opposed to my system above, where it fills my boil kettle above? My filling is painfully slow this winter, not sure if it's the cold water temp, or I've had a drop of water pressure in the neighborhood.

    Two or More RO tanks?

Like this. I use the mash paddle so the top won't float up and not stop the water flow.

IBU's aren't really what you calculated, like Bobby said.

    Cleanest lager yeast between 65-72F?

I have Novalager going now, split the batch, half warm under pressure and the other my traditional cold lager schedule. Will be a couple weeks but bringing the results to a club meeting for feedback.

    Thoughts on this blow-off setup

The mess is from an Imperial Red Ale dumped on a Nottingham yeast cake. I didn't want to waste a 5gal starter.

You could stay with the dark side 😛. Keep it dirty my friend.

    Making Mill table thoughts

Not sure, picked the mill, motor & cart in 2014ish. I added the cabinet and changed the casters to magic wheels on all four corners. Takes up a bit of space but it also stores a bunch of stuff.

    Making Mill table thoughts

I use this setup. Added a cabinet to help contain the dust. Drilled a hole and tried to use the shop vac to suck up some of the dust as I milled, but no real success with that. The cabinet also help support the top of the cart as it started to sag after a few years, since it is plastic.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Not brewing on the weekend, but I brewed yesterday. Double brew day an Imperial Red Ale and Session IPA/APA. Always screw up something when I brew, thus the name of the brewery. Didn't have the hops I was going to use, so it was a mad scramble to rejigger the recipe while I sparged. Of coarse it...

    Don't Do That.

I'm brewing right now and you are correct. Those big bolts don't go all the way through as I visualized. They are just to mount the chiller. Good thing I never tried to pull it apart.

    best grain for foam?

White wheat. The beer drops crystal clear after a few weeks.

    Don't Do That.

Been using a plate chiller for 10+yr and haven't had an issue. I run star san through it on brew day. That cleans my chillers, pump and lines. Run it for about 20-30 minutes, then the star san sits in the chiller, pump and lines during the boil (so i don't have to re-prime the pump.) The return...
