    Pumpkin Bourbon Dubbel

So I have completely redone this recipe. I've removed the pumpkin and replaced them with oats soaked in maple syrup. I'm also dry-hopping .25 oz of Saaz. I will be brewing this on Friday. Autumn Bourbon Ale 5lbs oats 4lbs rice syrup 5 cups light brown sugar (convert) 8oz molasses 6oz...

    Brewing Software - GF style

I was a fan of hopville until they did their overhaul. Now when I visit my account it makes me angry. However, if they fix the kinks it is a great site for GF. It has sorghum, brs, gluten free grains, etc.

What would you pay for real GF malt?

You got that right. I bought 4lbs of amaranth, used 3 of them and I don't know what to do with the last pound. What a PITA those little guys were!

What would you pay for real GF malt?

I am far more interested in a greater availability of gluten free LME and DME than I am in using malted grains.

    Drink of the Nativity

A few (closing) thoughts and then I'm done with this thread...there is a tremendous difference between criticism and critical feedback. Sir H., you have finally transitioned from criticism to critical feedback and I want to acknowledge that and thank you. Though you may not have intended to be a...

    Honey Jasmine Saison

What are you planning on doing with the grains? A decoction mash? The only problem I see is that you have 4oz of honey as a fermentable. GF grains are very hard to get any conversion from, especially not without an enzyme. See p.6 ...

    Questions from a total newbie

Eh...I've found most books on how to brew are rather useless for homebrewing unless you are actually going to try to get conversion from grains. And if you do you can join the small club of those who have succeeded. (NOTE--it CAN be done, it is just hard). Somewhere out there are 2 pdfs by...

    GF Pumpkin Spice Ale

That looks great. A storm blew through last night and the temperature has dropped 15-20 degrees....it is starting to feel like fall. I think I'm going to have to scratch using the pumpkins I'm growing because they are taking FOREVER! I'm hoping to buy canned pumpkin this week and make my pumpkin...

    Hazelnut Brown Ale

I found the hazelnut liqueur recipe online somewhere. It is pretty standard liqueur recipe though. Think Limoncello or peach "brandy." You can make both of those using pretty much the same procedure.

    First GF brew

One thing I've concluded, and I think others have as well, is that if you are going to use grains then use a lot or don't bother. In my future batches if I use grains I'll be using 1lb per gallon. I have done a # of 2lbs grains in 5 gallon batches. Their impact was negligible. So I'd either...

    Drink of the Nativity

The centennial and bottling with maple syrup both came from the Brooklyn Brewshop's Christmas recipe. The dry hop of Saaz came from another source for a winter ale. And boiling the honey with the spices in it and then pouring that into the wort came from a third recipe. I either liked the...

    Hazelnut Brown Ale

Somewhere I saw a recipe similar to this, not gluten free of course. In the original recipe they used store bought liqueur but I'm a fan of making your own. Not being able to have tasted it I don't know how it turned out but this is what I have developed. I'm not sure when I'll brew this...

Any other feedback or thoughts? This is a combination of 3 recipes so I figure it could either be very good or very bad.

Reflections on My Gluten-Free Brewing Experience Thus Far

Igliashon, I've been thinking about your post and I just wanted to encourage you to keep at it. It can be done--maybe part of the problem was bottle vs. draft? Perhaps you should take investors on a road trip to Deschute's in Portland. I've read their GF beer on tap is very good...
