Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

True you dont have to use a stir plate but it is more efficient. I paid about $40 for mine on ebay. You can make one from a computer fan also. Lots of ways to do everything in this hobby. Just about everything i know about making beer ( and i dont know much) i learned from this forum.

Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

There is a lot of info on this board for how to do a starter but here is what i do. I measure 1700 ml of water and heat to boiling. I meaure about 150 grams of light dme and stir that into the boiling water and boil for 15 minutes. Im aiming for about 1500 ml of wort at the end of the boil to...

    Festbier BierMuncher's OktoberFAST Ale (AG)

Thanks for the info. I'm going to brew it this weekend using U.S. 2 row, Vienna and Munich malt in the proportions listed but in a 5 gal batch. We'll see how it goes. It will be beer so we already know it will be good.

    Festbier BierMuncher's OktoberFAST Ale (AG)

Question on malts. How much different is German Pilsner 2 row from U.S. 2 row domestic like Great Western? I ask since I want to do this recipe, and I have plenty of domestic 2 row, German Vienna, and Munich Malt, but no German 2 row Pilsner. How will using domestic 2 row effect this recipe...

Hellooooo!, This is just what I needed. I'm in for at least a one 50 lb sack of Munich, Probably Weyermanns I as that is the only Munich malt I've ever used, but I'll wait for the list to nail it down. PM on the way. Wayne in Alexandria Also, anybody in the area have a used...

Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

I followed this recipe but used 13 lbs belgian pilsner and 1 lb light dme to fill in for lost efficiency. Turns out i did not need the dme and my og was 1.10. Used 1 wlp500 in a two stage, 2 ltr starter on stir plate. In 14 days my fg was 1.012. Very tasty, i just put it on keg this morning...

Poured into secondary - is my beer toast?

Thanks. I moved it to a keg today and purged it a few times with C02 and then added priming suger solution to it. It will be what it will be. Chalk this one up to the learning curve.

Poured into secondary - is my beer toast?

Siphen did not fail, my process failed. In short i screwed up. I was using a siphon cane for the first time, had the wrong diameter hose, switched to the correct diameter but it was just a little two short, i was getteng wort all over the place. Just a frustrating mess. I since gotten the...

Poured into secondary - is my beer toast?

I know this is an old thread but it fits my question so well. I had a process failure yesterday in siphoning a Weitzen bock from primary to secondary. I got maybe one gallon of five siphoned before my siphon failed. In a panic and in frustration I pulled out a funnel and poured the rest over...

    Gross Got!

New member from Virginia checking in. I brewed my first beer 20 years ago but I've been on a long break. Back at it again. I've brewed in the last few months a couple of Hefeweitzens, a bock, a Belgian, and I'm doing my first all grain (a Märzen) this weekend. This sight has been a great...
