Alton Brown - Homebrew - You Tube

I've only brewed with hop pellets. I'm kind of shocked to see that one ounce of fresh hops is a heaping cereal bowl full! I guess it does make sense though, no where near the same density as the pellets...

    NB spiced winter ale

I just bottled my batch of NB Spiced Winter Ale last Saturday. I did not use all the spices that the recipe called for. I believe I stuck 1/2 package in before the boil, and 1/4 package in after the boil. Some pieces and parts made it through the racking cane and into the primary. I probably...

    OG = 1.135 at 86 degrees!?

That would certainly make a difference.

Alton Brown - Homebrew - You Tube

I cringed when he jammed the bucket lid into the primary with all his might.

    Bottles with printed lables.

I think Stone 22's have glass-on-glass labels. Check out: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=15053

    Hardest drinking is in Europe

Hey, all that MGD doesn't qualify!

    Brewery Logo

Very nice. Did you draw it all yourself?

    What are you currently drinking?

Nothing beats a good plan! I took the night off. But yesterday, I had some New Belgium Mothership Wit. Pretty good and unique stuff (as usual from NB).

Kay Folks, Splain to Me How to Make my Own Labels...

I use PhotoShop. It's not free... GIMP is free, and is pretty nice for the price...! http://www.gimp.org/ It can be intimidating to use these programs. They're both feature rich. Perhaps someone can recommend an easier to use program? I'm thinking along the lines of a consumer photo...

    Hop Rod IPA

Here's a few retro/50s style fonts that match the car theme. Let me know if you want the names of any of them.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I just hope the beer survives the rookie bottling attempt!

    Using an raspberry extract

Well, from all the "soapy" stories I've read, I tasted half a spoonful of the rasp extract that came with this raspberry wheat kit. Soapy...yep. No doubt about it, that's the first thing that came to mind. This stuff will NOT be going into my bottling bucket... Now what to do...keep it vanilla...

so what are people brewing for the holidays???

Just bottled some Spiced Winter Ale from NB yesterday.

NYeric, how did it taste to you?

    Hey, it's a beer label!

I like the font for the name of the beer. BIG and FAT it indeed is. The tagline underneath (everything in black) is very difficult to read on my monitor. The yellow text is striking against the maroon BG. I can barely read the "Warning:" text, but it looks like "propensity" is misspelled. The...

    Cut-Throat Brewery

Thanks for the feedback (and the compliments), everyone! Sir Humps, I have taken your advice and rewritten the description to sound a little...darker. I also put some comedic relief into the Gov't Warning. Matt, I haven't decided on how to print yet. It will have to be inkjet, as my laser is...

    Cut-Throat Brewery

Fooling around with PhotoShop... :drunk: Originally had the Pirate as the main picture on the label, but then thought it'd make a better brewery logo, and I should put a "beer logo" as the main picture depending on what's in the bottle... Gov't warning is there just for kicks! Still not done...
