    Yes I see monoblocks... 😍

Saison Nelson Sauvin Dry Hopped Saison

And yes, for any of you who said in your head “get ready for a beer fountain when you put those hops in a 3/4 carb’d beer”, I did get beer all over the carpet. Dan

    Plug-In Cooler=Glycol Chiller?

I know this thread has moved on, but for posterity’s sake; thermoelectric cooling is real low power. 40F below ambient, per the advertized value, is unlikely in most conditions and only if you don’t open the lid of the cooler. With a glycol chiller, you’re trying to remove a lot of heat at a...

    What are you drinking now?

Guess I’m the first one today... 😳 HB Yuengling copy

    Adding RO water during/after fermentation?

I’ve diluted with RO water after the boil just before pitching. I used a sanitized pitcher but non-boiled water out of my RO system. There’s some risk, but mine have been fine.

Saison Nelson Sauvin Dry Hopped Saison

I brewed this one again with 3711 (again) but used Nelson Sauvin this time. Sounds great, right? No, I dry hopped 48hrs in to fermentation, just after high krausen and learned first-hand that the long-standing suggestion that dry hopping early strips aroma from the beer is 100% accurate. The...

    Fermenting in Keg Filtering

You might try a floating, filtered dip tube in that fermenting keg. This is what I use in my Fermzilla and even without cold crashing, a lot of junk is left behind so I haven’t had floaters in the serving keg.

HELP> Do you mechanically filter your homebrew? If so, I need your advice.

Looks good for 7 days in the keg. Compare to that High Life in another month and post up here again, eh? Dan

    These hops are good, right?

‘Rage cleaning’ was my favorite part, wow have I been there 🤣

    Keg Factory-Buyer Beware!

Also, don’t buy the thing that i think is defective! It broke after 2 uses!!! That thing sucks, I’m never shopping here again!

    Keg Factory-Buyer Beware!

While we’re at it, I want to let folks know to not shop at one retailer that I once went to and didn’t like. I don’t want to air the specifics here, not the time or place; after all, I’m a rational, calm, easy-to-work with customer. I won’t name the retailer, THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHO THEY ARE...

I just had to dump my first batch after nearly a year off because I am an idiot.

Based on your description, that would have happened to most people. Totally sucks but not your fault, really. I know it’s gross, but I would have kept the beer to see what happened 😄 Hit up that LHBS and get right back on that horse! Dan

    What are you drinking now?

Tasting a not-yet-ready HB saison. Yeah, coming along nicely

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewing a Centennial Blonde, which my wife named, “Corky StClair Sesquicentennial Blonde” for any Waiting for Gufman fans out there. Got my brewing buddies giving me company again today :)

What I did for beer today

So sorry to hear that, take care. I had it in Nov and did loose taste smell for quite a while. Though some things still smell AWFUL and I can’t eat some foods to this day, beer came right back and eventually hop aromas came back. You’ll beat it! Rest up! The fatigue messed with me for 3...

What I did for beer today

HB hops are quite tropical, I think they’ll help highlight the fruit, but we’ll see. I’ve not tried them in a saison but I’m sure they’d be great. The taste/smell issue was my own fault; I pulled the hydrometer sample from the dregs and yeast/trub may have been to blame. I let the sample chill...

American Lager Pottsville Common (Yeungling Lager Attempt)

Thanks for the recipe! I’ve got a keg of this that is approaching crystal clear (without fining!) and the color is spot on. See below; Yuengling on the left, mine on the right. That said, I overshot my gravity due to higher than expected efficiency. The balance is, therefore, off and the...

What I did for beer today

Put a 3 week old sour on 8lb of peaches and 2lb of dried apricots. Also added 0.5oz of Hallertau Blanc for a bit of fruit nose and to stop the souring. The sample out of primary tasted...different from the last 3 sours I’ve made and NOT in a good way. 😒 Though I can’t always trust my...
