    Oatmeal Stout Yooper's Oatmeal Stout

    I have been enjoying this scaled up version very much over the past week! It has only been on CO2 for a short while but has already started to mellow and am really looking forward to seeing how it ages. Everyone who has tried a sample likes it. I must say that in my experience a really good...

    Oatmeal Stout Yooper's Oatmeal Stout

    I have been wanting to Imperialize this recipe for a few years now and finally took a stab at it last month. Basically just doubled up on all the ingredients, increased boil time to 90 minutes, and used Wyeast Pacman to ferment with. I have had good results using Pacman in some other high ABV...

    Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

    My experience was exactly the same as yours, what has worked well for my taste buds was to move the 60 minute hop additions to a FWH addition. The extra contact time made the bitterness spot on and I love it!

    Another JaDeD Cyclone copy...

    Here's an update: I've got three brews on this new chiller so far. The first two I tried using the new hop back and struggled with it plugging up... so those were a bust for determining how well the new chiller performed. In this pic I am cooling down a 10gal batch of BierMuncher's Centennial...

    Another JaDeD Cyclone copy...

    Here I am recirculating thru the Riptide and I am VERY satisfied with the performance of both new components! Like I said before, it took 8gal of boiling water down to 75F in about 16 minutes. Can't wait to try it out this weekend for real! ( ;

    Another JaDeD Cyclone copy...

    Here I am trying a single pass chilling from the boil kettle directly to the ferment bucket. This style of chiller is not long enough to be effective as a single pass chiller... Had to run the water WFO and really throttle back on the kettle drain... it took forever to chill down to 85F...

    Another JaDeD Cyclone copy...

    Where I am pointing in this photo is the corner where I really started getting the hang of sweating copper pipe! LOL, there are 51 solder joints in this CFC!

    Another JaDeD Cyclone copy...

    A while back I decided it was time to upgrade my equipment because I wanted to explore using a hop back. So I am using this opportunity to build a new CFC and buy a brew pump. After looking through the other JaDeD clone threads I decided to try and go conservative. It ain't cheap either! I...

    Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

    I too found this recipe to a be a little towards the sweeter side when I first brewed it. What I tried on the second batch was to simply move the the 60 minute hop addition to a First Wort Hop (FWH) addition. So those hops ended up sitting in the wort a little bit longer but it balanced the...

    DIY counterflow chiller

    Dude! Very nice build! Ya'll got some mad fabrication skills ( ;

    Are these bottles infected?

    The more I reused bottles early on for home brewing the more I saw the same sort of debris in my bottled beer. What worked for me to remove that "gunk" was this: After finishing a beer I rinse the bottle really well. Then I pour in just a small amount of premixed water/oxy clean into each...

    7.2 Cu ft Hisense keezer build

    Really proud of you for being a mechanic and a resourceful home brewer! A little bit jealous too, my own keezer project is stalled until funds come in.

    Specialty IPA: Black IPA Darth Vader - Black IPA

    Yah, I use a container... just a sanitized hop sack. When I put beer into a Party Pig I have always added ~ 1 ounce of dry hops in the Party Pig (keg) for the duration. I always would naturally carb those Party Pigs so depending on the style of beer that I put in a Party Pig it may sit for 2 -...

    Specialty IPA: Black IPA Darth Vader - Black IPA

    I have struggled to get that "hoppy" aroma in all of my IPA home brews, not just this recipe. I have tried the usual things like late hop additions, dry hopping in the fermentation bucket, dry hopping in the keg. I get the best hop aroma when dry hopping in the keg but it fades. I have come...

    Finally building my keezer

    Dude, I luv your keezer. It's the same chest freezer I bought for my own project. Super jealous how far along you are already. That freezer can easily hold 6 corny kegs!

    Specialty IPA: Black IPA Darth Vader - Black IPA

    I've always gone from the primary fermenter directly to the bottling bucket with no problems.

    Finally Built a Keezer ....

    Hey there, Awesome job with your build. I would think your light bulb runs on the same voltage that the freezer does. I like the recommendation of adding a power cord for just the light and also adding a circulation fan ( ;

    Kenmore Keezer build, 8.8 cu.ft.

    Was able to tidy up the install of the temp controller today. Think I will focus on building the collar soon, need to save up for the hardware. Those taps and all the goodies are expensive!

    Kenmore Keezer build, 8.8 cu.ft.

    My Keezer will not be pushed up against a wall, more out in the open and all four sides will be visible so my requirements are a little bit beyond the norm. I have pets and people in the area and I don't want anything getting knocked out of whack. If I can have just one power cord stretching...
