My system has a HERMS coil in the HLT and I can do a continuous sparge. That is how I run the system on my Imperial IPAs. Efficiency is mid 70's. Thought I might increase the MT from 10 gallons to a 20 gallon or just keep both for small or large brews.

If you get film, yeast or even mold you can soak with hot uncented Oxyclean over night, rinse and clean with a bottle brush. If it still looks funky after that it gets recycled before going to the Starsan rinse.

Just listened to Lorane Evens on a pod cast. She said she did this and mills at .029. I have done this one time when my mill was set too close. I might start doing this if the clean-up is easyer and BHE stays above 78%. If you use this methode do you still continious sparge?

Hope this feed is still active. Looking for advice on what size, (volume) of a mash tun needed for a 10 gallon brew system, (15 gallon HLT & BK). I brew Imperial IPAs and my 10 gallon cooler will only handle 5 gallon Imperials.

Use what you trust. I use test strips in my pool, kambucha and when brewing, but I like the read outs I get with a digital meter.

When making an IPA that requires a dry hop addition do you dry hop on the primary and then transfer to a secondary for a few days and then package?
