Heck... So I need at least three primaries?

I have been known to crush a couple cases in the odd week but rarely does 2 or 3 12-packs not last me at least 7-14 days. I tip my hat to that drinking. I dunno if I could put down 8 a night consistently week after week. Maybe I just don't have what it takes...

    Label Removing idea

The best thing about Oxy is how versatile it is. Beyond your bottles it can also clean your brewing equipment and gets out a lot of sediment and other crud and it's easier to work with than say C-Brite. I hate chlorine smell and it is rough on your skin and nose. I was going to switch to PBW...

    Label Removing idea

I have a 5 lb bucket of unscented powder. It's the original kind that the annoying guy was always screaming about on the infomercials. Billy Mays all in my brain!!!:rockin:

    Corn Sugar? 4 cups = 1 lb?

In most circumstances the conventional wisdom is 2 cups = 1 pound but obviously this is not always the case. Volumes to weights is not an easy conversion. I generally adopt a 2 to 2.4 cup rule per pound of corn sugar. A little under only weakens the ABV so it's not bad to be off. Yes you...

    Anyone ever tasted trub?

Mmm I tried this last night and to finish it off I had some Vodka and Creamed Corn! :rockin:

    star san foam ok?

Metallic flavor doesn't sound like Star Sans really. Possibly but it could be other factors. Exposure to metal does it but so can some infections take on a metallic or mediciney taste. I have had some beers (commercially) that were awfully metallic and it was all to do with brewing processes...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I have a 5 gallon kit and 2 primary fermenters and heck I am still thinking about adding a Mr. beer kit just for the novelty of it. I know you cn make some pretty decent beer with it and fairly quick. It would be a nice addition for me so I don't have a dozen 5 gallon pails everywhere haha. I...

    Cold break before secondary?

From what I understand, Coldbreak, is a process that occurs when you chill your wort after the boil and before you pitch the Yeast. Someone else can explain exactly what is going on during that. Chilling your primary, again as I understand it, is to help the beer clear. More yeast and...

    Label Removing idea

Ok my label removing test is complete. For the past two months I have scrubbed and removed labels for over 100 bottles and I am annoyed I never thought of Oxy. Up until now my processes were this: Hot water and detergent soak for 3-6 hours, scrubbed with brillo or brush and dried. hot water...

    about the 1-2-3 rule

I can't imagine it would still be fermenting much after 3 weeks even if the temp dipped below 60. Maybe I am wrong though.

    star san foam ok?

Saniclean is the same stuff just as you said, lower foam. It is good for some applications but as I understand it, Star Sans is the best solution a Home Brewer can use. The foam is actually good because it works faster and helps get into areas that may have been missed. I was researching...

    Label Removing idea

Wallpaper remover will work but it's just massive overkill and takes the same amount of time. If you really want to go an adhesive remover just go to home Depot and by a can of adhesive cleaner. I used to sell that stuff when I was an Industrial Salesman and it works great. It's specifically...

    Label Removing idea

Oxy > Bleach. Just threw a 6 pack of Red Hook bottles in hot water and Oxy about 15 min ago and already the labels are peeling off clean. With bleach it was a couple hours at least.

    Label Removing idea

I had some Michelob Mrazen's and Budweiser American Ales. Those labels came off in cold water haha!

    Apfelwein is awesome!

Well I just started up, 3 brews under my belt but none are conditioned yet so I am still emptying commercial bottles and waking up with some serious headaches! Haha. It certainly is fun though. I have about 100 bottles now (12 pint) and I used about half of them on my first brew. Now I...

    Label Removing idea

The neck label and small back label of Sams bottles are easy enough but I find that the large main label always is stubborn coming off. If I give it good soak in C-Brite first then it's usually no big deal but with hot water I generally need to scrape and scrub more. But yes Red Hook's are a...

    Apfelwein is awesome!

Sounds good. I think i will give it a go when my carboy empties around Christmas. I need to slow some batches down because I can't empty my bottles fast enough haha! this sounds great because it is a longer ferment time and will set me up for some good Feb-March brewing! :tank:

    Apfelwein is awesome!

Can I use a 6 gal carboy or is less headspace desirable?

Mmmmmm, brewed a leaf in my full boil!!

I think it was just like a little baby salamander or something. Like I said we have a well here and since it stormed the other day sometimes the WT gets stirred a bit. It's not a huge deal. Every now and then a little thing squeezes through the filter. The neighbors share a well with us and...
