    BeerSmith works in Ubuntu!

Wow! I didn't even know wine still existed. Back when linux was relatively new I had to compile wine manually on slackware linux in order to use it. It could barely run solitaire! I thought it was long dead. I usually run VMWare server in linux and load up windows xp if I want to run...

Salt in my beer - lots of it. Any hope?

Oh man! Craig go drunk, showed up at the in-laws naked wearing nothing but a pig holloween mask and told SWMBO she was fat when she came to pick him up and take him home!

    Gross

I cleaned and sanitized my bottles by hand and once in the dishwasher. I didn't check them during bottling, however. After my friends and I sampled the first few I rinsed them out and looked in them to see if all the sediment was out. One bottle had a bug stuck to the bottom. None of my...

    bad hydrometer?

What are you using to measure the volume of your batches? Are you using a bucket with factory applied gallon marks? If so, don't go by the marks until you've calibrated it and made sure they are correct. I kept getting low OGs as well. I decided to check the marks on my bucket. I used...

    Kegged beer has off taste

What type of line are you using? I use bottles so I don't know a lot about dispensing from a keg but I've had a simiar problem with a sink faucet. I had one of those faucets that have the pull out sprayer built in. When the water sat in there overnight, something in the tubing would leach...

    Let's talk Hi-Def DVD players...

I have the xbox360 HD-DVD Player. The picture and sound is absolutely awesome. Every sony product I have owned has been junk. None lasted more than 3 years. I refuse to ever go blu-ray.

    Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat Clone

I've read that this recipe is close. I'm going to convert it to extract and give it a try in a week or so: http://rabeb25.mikesdecks.com/BEER/Recipes/Recipes/Sunset%20Wheat%205g.htm I'm a little confused by the hops, however. It has .5 oz of cluster at 60 min but then has .5 oz of...

How much beer do you drink?

I drink 4 or 5 a night over a period of ±10 hours (I'm on my 4th and final one for tonight). The higher the alcohol content the less I'll drink per night. If having 5 hobbies wasn't enough, I went and added beer brewing as a 6th. That's the only drawback I've found...Not enough time for the...

    I have no Faucet threads!

I use a pond pump to circulate my water through ice since it's 78F out of the tap. I run the tap water into the sink filled with ice and pump the water through the immersion tubing.

Number of bottles produced--is this off?

Make sure you calibrate your fermenting/measuring bucket. I kept missing my starging Gravity and couldn't figure out why. I did some testing and it turns out the factory applied gallon markers on my fermenter were off by almost .4 Gallons. To verify my measuring devices were correct, I took...

    One line "Ooops"

I forgot to dump the 6oz of one step out of the bucket I use to transfer to my carboy with my last batch. Then I transferred it to my carboy and forgot to dump the 6oz of one step out of the carboy as well. I guess I had way too much to drink that night! To my surprise, that batch...

    Leinenkugels Sunset Wheat

I love this beer. I with it was in a pop top so I could reuse the bottles since I drink so many of them. I came across this on another board. I can't remember which one and this is all I copied. This was a 2.5 gallon test batch from what I wrote down. I haven't tried it. ...blueberry...

    Secondary Temperature

My first beer was a blue moon clone using a dry wheat ale type yeast. The temperature was too high during fermentation so the flavor is not what I was looking for. I wanted to get the temperature correct for my future batches. My second beer was a Yuengling Lager clone. I didn't have the...

    buffalos are hard core.

I ate a Bison Burger a couple of years ago. I had the worst cramps and gas all night and the runs for three days! I keep trying to get my friends to try one but they just won't go for it...I wonder why?

    Fermentation Problem

I was reading through some old threads and came across one asking the same question. It mentions something called a FermWrap which is a heater that wraps around your carboy or bucket. I did a search on google and found many places that sell it for around $30.00

Anyone here own a Toyota FJ Cruiser??

I personally would stay away from Honda and Toyota. Several of my friends have Honda's and Toyota's and they have nothing but problems with them. They are always in the shop for something and are all relatively new. Plus the parts cost a lot more. A lot of the car manufacturers still have...

    Fermentation Problem

I hear you! I'm thinking about just getting rid of the wife and sticking with the beer making in the kitchen. I was getting ready to bottle up a batch of Belgian Witbier. The bottles were all ready to be filled and everything was sanitized. Next thing you know she decides she wants to be...
