    Glass shards everywhere!

    I am new to this but from everything I have read here and in books you need to leave a little room in the bottle. Approx. 1" or so..due to the pressure that is built up during carbonation. I hope someone else will chime in here as well because I think you may be mistaken.;)

    Are you possibly overfilling the bottles?? I believe if you overfill you are risking bottle bombs.

    It wasn't easy.....I was very busy with work so that kind of helped and it was well worth it. I was going to bottle after 3 weeks but I caught a bad cold so I held off the extra week.:mug:

    Whoa.......what a surprise!!! I just had my first Homebrew, a Porter that I brewed. Man was it good! It spent 4 weeks in the primary, then I bottled 2 and a half weeks ago. Today I decided I couldn't wait any longer and put one in the fridge. Wow, am I pleased...really tasted great. Well carbed...

    It seems as if the OxiClean is the way to go. Which Oxiclean is it that you all use? I believe last time I saw it at the store there were a few different ones to choose from....

    Good Luck with the Beer and the Power...my parents live in NH and also got slammed with that same storm last week. They have been told that they may not have power until after the first of the year:(.. Keep warm!
