Customizing a partial mash Honey Brown Ale

I think I have it! Keeping with the original ingredients but bumping the Munich up to 1lb and adding .5lb of carabrown to get the color right and bumped the ABV just over 5%. Also adding 1oz EKG in at 15min and another .5oz of Willamette at flame out. OG 1.053 FG 1.014 ABV 5.15% IBU 20.57...

Customizing a partial mash Honey Brown Ale

There's a great group of folks here for sure! Now I have some more research to do. I just noticed I geared up to do 5 gallon brews, but my largest primary is only 5 gallons. I probably should go larger to keep from puking all over my brew room huh..

Thank you Jim! There's a lot of good info here.

Customizing a partial mash Honey Brown Ale

Ah so many ideas! I really want to use more than one hop on this brew. My local brew shop has a fairly large selection of leaf and pellet hops. I may scrap my pellet Willamette for leaf and after some quick research, the EKG looks like a solid companion. I am able to partial mash and I would...

Customizing a partial mash Honey Brown Ale

Ok I'm liking it so far. Should I try another hop for a broader brew say closer to flameout? Not sure what works with Willamette.

Customizing a partial mash Honey Brown Ale

Ok I gotcha. If I used WLP007, kept the honey malt and added another 2 or 3 oz of Munich, would this keep it from being too dry and boosting ABV? I don't want to get crazy with it, I just want a little bit of alcohol warmth.

    Buying a new Pistol

Yep the new Glock 43 will be the wife's new carry. Or mine if she doesn't like it

    Buying a new Pistol

Lol in an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 under nearly 2 decades worth of "beer handles", as my wife calls them 😀

    Buying a new Pistol

A 19 is very easy to conceal. I weigh 185-190 and can conceal it with any clothing. I'm not a glock fanboy by any means. They are ugly as sin but I've never had any glock I've owned fail to fire or feed.

    Buying a new Pistol

I bought my wife an LC9 a year or so ago. She prefered the larger grip over the LCP. I shoot it on occasion and it a nice shooter. Kind of long trigger but easier to handle than the LCP. As for the Glock 19, I've carried mine for many years and will continue to do so. Its one helluva concealed...

Customizing a partial mash Honey Brown Ale

I've been eyeballing a Brewers Best honey brown ale partial kit at my local homebrew store and finally went for it today. This will be my 2nd brew, but after many hours of studying and research I'm ready. I really want to put my own spin on this one. Here's the details: IBU's 19-23 OG...

    Newbie First-timer with Iodophor

As the title implies I decided to ditch the powdered stuff that comes with some kits for something more, professional? After comparing cost effectiveness I opted for Iodophor over Starsan. I just sanitized all of my bottling equipment before bottling my FIRST brew, a pale ale so I'm kind of...

Any brewers in the Conway Area?

Yeah I'd tried removing labels before.. Sheesh. I've seen some cleaner/label remover stuff but seemed a little pricey. I may just do some saving and buy bottles for now and keg later. There's a store near me that sells brewing supplies so I need to check them out first.

Any brewers in the Conway Area?

All of my friends either drink cans or twist bottles. I wish I had all the bottles of craft and German brews I've drank over the years.. After seeing all the stuff I've bought to upgrade, my wife said she can see this is going to be an obsession :-)

Any brewers in the Conway Area?

Well I'm back from Lowes. I ended up with 3 5 gallon food grade buckets, some tubing and a rubber mallet for seating the lids. Cost 14 cents after using what was left on my gift card. I got one bucket for primary, secondary and priming. Is anybody bottling in a large container to carbonate? 5...

Any brewers in the Conway Area?

Well I lost the bid, but I'm putting together my own kit. I'm headed to Lowes to get my food grade buckets and gasketed lids and some tubing. I have a $50 gift card for my birthday this year from there so I may get either 4 or 6 buckets. Got a few S bubblers coming from eBay and a brewers kit...

    Greetings from Arkansas!

Obsession seems about right. My first batch has barely been fermenting for 24hrs and I already have a larger setup on the way! I'm hooked :)
