    Teach me about using pump(s)

Sweet panel. Love the Danger sticker! Hmm. Alexa enabled? Next upgrade. 🤔

    Teach me about using pump(s)

Yeah my panels ( I run 2 panels at the same time so If something catastrophic we to happen I can limp through my brew day with one, had to swap out a 40 Amp SSR on one a couple brew days back and it took about a half hour ) are right there so I could just flip a switch if there was one there...

    Teach me about using pump(s)

I have built 4 electric control panels now and have not put pump switches in my panels because I like the remote control for the pumps better than having to reach for the panel to turn them on and off ( it also greatly simplifies electric panel build ) . I don't remember what remote control I...

    Electric AND Gas?

Cool! I've used mine maybe 3 times in the last 5 years on the 50 gallon pot for wet hop beers off my hop plants. That is a pretty nice upgrade as my older one doesn't have it. You still will need additional shielding for the back if you have electrical cords coming out the back as that burner is...

    Electric AND Gas?

I would agree. The only way I get away with it is the flame is probably over 6 inches away from the aluminum shield but it burnt the paint off and deposited the smoke from it on the side of the kettle.

    Electric AND Gas?

Hmm. Hellfire basically has no heat shield. Just sheet metal that the legs bolt on to which is only like an inch above the burner. The heat that goes up above the flame has no shield. Occasionally I use it on my 50 gallon kettle which I've yet to weld on ports to go electric so I shield the bulk...

First Time Growing Hops - Is This Plan Okay?

The photo I posted is 3 Comet hop plants and the other half of the back fence is 3 Cashmere plants and they meet in the middle. It will be like Wrigley Field wall of privacy next year which will be year 3, they didn't quite fill in totally this year. Started 6 more to my West side neighbor 3...

First Time Growing Hops - Is This Plan Okay?

Yes but you have to manually wrap them around the horizontal twine. I also use these soft foam twisty ties to keep them in place. I run all the lead bines as far as they will go. The horizontal section is where the bulk of the hops form. The vertical section is less dense.

What PSI with your gas ratio do you run? Thanks.

Where did all the whole cone hops go??

Dry hops are very springy as I would crush them down into a red solo cup for measuring purposes then transfer to vacuum seal bags. The top part of the cup always stays springy at the bottom would get so compact you could barley get them out. Once vacuumed they are like a rock and there really is...

Where did all the whole cone hops go??

+1 on space issues. Brewed about 3 wet hop beers and and used 45 ounces wet in the first and 90 ounces wet in each of other 2 beers. Then I still had 4 grocery sacks overflowing with dried and vacuum seal smaller increments 2 to 6+ ounce packages. It took all of one of my freezers to hold them...

What is your cutoff time of day to start brewing?

Definitely need bigger gear if you want to make that much beer in a short period. I've only brewed 3- 12 gallon batches back to back to back on 2 occasions. That is about an 18 hour day using 20 gallon kettle. You are gonna be wore out after this run. No sleep?

All you can do is laugh....

I should have taken a picture the other day of the insane mess I had. Split batch sour beers 6.25 gallons of strawberry peanut butter sour now down to 5.25 gallons after insane overflow through blow off tube into starsan jug, and a raspberry sour start 6.25 gallon now down to 5.5 gallon after...

    lifespan of kegged beer

I would think you could bottle off the rest to free up the tap and have up to 6 months to drink it. I had an imperial stout that I bottled off a case out of the keg ( purged O2 from headspace as setting the cap on as best possible ) for a buddy who is only home on weekends or every couple of...

    oxidation question

If time for brewing is not a factor instead of double batching and having a keg sitting around at room temp for a month or more just brew a batch at a time. You mentioned that you have cold crashed at some point just not on these so that makes me think you have a refrigerated area big enough to...

How do you know "how much is left in the keg"?

I use the force!:p If that doesn't work I just lift it if I really need to know how much is left for some reason. Like will it hold up and have enough for a party or should I replace it. It doesn't take to terribly long for the sediment to resettle. I will say it kind of makes you nervous...

Need help with long beer line runs

I just tried that calculator and the beer line length seems to be determined by the variables above it. If I say the vertical distance is more it makes the beer line length less. It doesn't allow you to put a number in the length section like 17' for example. Am I missing something with this...

    Craigslist Deal of the Day

Took my brother in law and truck and trailer and tools. Luckily the lady's son helped and he was a young guy with more than enough muscle. This thing is 10 foot tall by 10 foot wide by 24 foot long, and has 6 inch thick walls so the panels are heavy as hell. It is old school but looks like new...

    Craigslist Deal of the Day

The best deal I got on Craigslist is the 2- 3.5 BBL Unitanks new never used on the left from Alpha Brewing Ops. I've got some killer deals off probrewer classifieds also, but Market place I've got some of the best deals I scored including a $25,000ish walk in cooler for $200.

    Starting a brewery

Sounds like time is on your side. If you have the time and look for deals daily ( Marketplace, Craigslist, Probrewer) on used equipment ( sometimes new and unused) you can save insane cashola! Luckily I don't have to pay for my storage units full of equipment since my friend own's the joint...
