Let me start by saying that I have just about the world's smallest "toy" budget, so I have to build my brew system on the cheap. It looks to me that I can build a HERMS for less money I could a RIMS. Either will need a pid...does anyone have any experience with this one, or can offer advice on...
Without seeing it, my guess is the trough in the floor was just behind the back feet of the cows, and was where the, uh, manure, landed when nature called to the cow.
Couldn't you make the hole large enough to insert a sleeve of some type (CPVC perhaps) that would allow some compression of the side walls but not much?
I know what you're saying...when I built my brewing setup the first time around I made my immersion cooler with 50 feet of 1/2 inch copper. That baby sucked heat out of the hot wort and I accidently made contact with the hot water. Didn't ever do it again!
Thanks for the fast replies!
I ask because i found a rubber hose that says it's rated for 165 degrees and wonder if that's enough to use to build a CFC.
I don't own one of these, but did find this about them on one website:
""Several homebrew merchants sell heat-resistant pumps with a pump section that is magnetically coupled to the electric motor (the pump can stall or stop and not burn out the motor). I chose a non-magnetic pump from Beer...

Yep...FAIL. Leaks like there's no tomorrow. I'll try again later....but I think I need better flux first. I just hate to pay as much as the local welding supply shop wants for the Harris.
This thread answered important questions for me....I just asked the other day about using a 50 amp spa panel with a 30 amp dryer fuse and got helpful answers, but your post reaffirmed that it's cool to do.
Thanks...and glad you, the dogs and your system ( I like the setup, those drawers rock!)...
Cleaned out the meager balance in my Paypal account tonight and bought the pieces to make my first counterflow cooler. It will be based on 25 feet of 3/8 tubing.
I'm actually excited...i'll be doing full boils again!!!!!
While I'm truly envious of your bar, I think I'd trade jobs and wife with you...the rest would come easier after that swap. My job doesn't pay enough and my wife would NEVER go for a bar in the basement, no matter how nice it was.
Beautiful setup for sure!
I bought the 50 amp spa panel from HD last year but have not done anything with it yet. I have some questions for you more electrically experienced people. First, my house still only has a glass fuse main box with the pull-outs holding cartridge fuses for the main and dryer circuit. The mains...
