You can find washer dryer hoses that are 10 feet long too, but if you want to use that water in your brew you'd want and RV water hose on the cold side.
I had forgotten about that thread, but I was pretty active in it early on, back when my username was Gonefishing.
I haven't brewed in months, but will be doing a batch tomorrow, and will be doing it with the pasta mill and powering it with my drill.
For those who turned a pasta maker into a grain mill, has anyone cut the handle off and used it to power the mill? I'd like to motorize this thing but don't want to ruin the handle unless I know it will work with a drill and I won't need the ability to hand crank it.
Finally plumbed it up last night, I'll be using it today.
Now I have the water filter, the MLT, the CFC and the stand itself done. I need to find the money to set up the HERMS and buy the controllers and this thing will be "done"..
I'd spend the $450 on steel, a welder and a chop saw. That way I'd learn another new skill and have some nifty new tools. But, that's just me.
I built my stand last year for something like $70. I used the tools at work to make and weld it though.
The CFC works just fine. I tested it by running hot tap water through the beer line while running cold tap water through the cool side. Nice cold water at the outlet.
Also fixed an issue with my Ice Cube MLT which kept it from draining out well. Still not perfect but that's an air leak and...
Broke down and bought a half length at Lowe's. CFC complete!
Moved to next project...getting my ice cube cooler to empty better. Decided to slightly redesign the manifold and quickly realized that gave me a 5 inch piece left over...... should have done that project first I guess.
Building my CFC and I need one 3 inch long piece of 1/2" copper tubing..and I really don't want to go buy a piece of tubing to get it. Really wanted it done today.
I bought a whole house water filter housing and charcoal cartridges today. No more trips to the store for bottled water. Of course, it will take about five 5-gallon batches before it starts saving money, but it's worth it to me to never have to think about buying brew water again.
I'm going to...
