Finally going to start making something from all these parts!

I think I have everything I need to put the brewery together, and planning to start this weekend....even though Christmas will be a bit in the way of that. I do have a question for those with herms setups though...I have my copper coil running through a bucket that maybe holds two gallons, the...

    Yet another dumb newb question.

Do you have some type of temp controller, like a PID? Without it how would you hold your mash temp? With it and your pump it should be an easy step to a RIMS of a HERMS setup.

    Antique icebox to kegorator

I hope you are extremely proud of this as it is one sweet looking piece of furniture. Very, very nice!

    Home center stainless screw warning

Those screws were sold as stainless? They look like a normal screw to me...you know, the zinc covered ones. That sucks... Which big box was it? I think I want to avoid buying screws there.

    great craigslist find!

You sure do! You suck bigtime! That is a pile of damned good stuff for $200!!! Color me exceptionally envious! Great job!

    Floatys in beer. Help

I had a beer with "floaties" too. I did drink some of it, but then had others ready so the floatie beer sat for a long time...it is now clear as a bell. I'll bet yours clears with time too.

    Mash tun mixer

    Yeah, very cool!

    Is this a mistake?

I too have that same panel, and will have the time to wire it and the brewery up....soon?...I hope.

    Valve for 3/8 CFC?

I'd think that (if you could find them) plastic caps on both ends of the copper tubing would be nice to keep dust and crap out, but that the valve is overkill and a whole lot more money.

    Valve for 3/8 CFC?

Never tried it, but I would think you could use a compression to pipe thread adapter on either side of a brass ball valve. Or, one adapter, the valve and a threaded barb.

    Can I do this?

True, and thanks....I'll look for the LEDs. Thanks again.

    Can I do this?

Thanks for the help, Walker. The issue with switching the high current to the elements is that one is 110v, the other two are 220. I would really like to switch the low voltage to the ssrs because I'd like to have all that high current stuff in a main box, but the PID, switches and pilot lights...

    My new Kal clone...Almost there!

Oh, not to worry...mine won't. This one, however, is a thing of beauty!

    Can I do this?

I'm planning to use my one PID for the HLT and the eHerms...I assume I switch the SSR controlling 12v to whichever container I want to heat/monitor, also switching the thermocouple of course. My question is, can I also add a pilot light to that control circuit so I can tell when the SSR is...

All the major parts finally on the way

That sure looks like it, except the bottom of the Fusti seems to have a "bumper" of some type on it, which mine does not. Cool to see that they cost that much...I got mine for free.

Is this cooler good for anything?

That's exactly what the wall is, an inner and an outer with insulating foam between them.

Fridge temp controller - compressor? keep freezer cold?

The compressor keeps the freezer frozen and the fridge cold. If you control its on and off times to regulate the fridge temps I would think the freezer isn't going to be frozen. I admit that I just use my fridge to store my beer and have never tried to regulate it as a ferm box though.

    Starting my keezer build... thoughts?

I think your digital picture frame idea is great...but I think I need to see the tin sides before having an opinion on that part of your build.

Is this cooler good for anything?

I just drilled a small hole in the side of mine the other day. It drilled just fine. I think I've read about people using a spade bit to make a hole for a drain, but I think I'd be afraid of that and use a hole saw. Try searching for drilling a cooler...whatever I read had to be here at HBT.

All the major parts finally on the way

The foam rubber on the HLT is a cheap exercise mat from Christmas tree shops...it was $5, is almost 1/4" thick and is blue...couldn't leave the store without it. The herms tank is a beverage bucket from the Target after-Halloween sale...the little tag on it says, "Halloween Brew", and it was $7...
