New Years is coming, what's on tap.....

Its still in my primary until this weekend when I get my keezer finished. I only have 2 kegs, one has my winter ale in it, and the other I am keeping full of starsan so I can run it through the draft tower. Once thats been sanitized I'll rack over the Dunkelweizen and start carbing.

    Bottling with used bottles

I have a table-mounted capper, and have tried using some twist off bottles, they don't seem to seal well. They also get stuck in the capper and I have to use a lot of force to get them out. Not worth it in my opinion. When you buy commercial beers, limit yourself to ones with pry-off caps for...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

If you cut it in half and only use 2.13 gallons, you'll have much stronger beer, but if you fill to 2.5 you'll be fine. Here's a discussion on fitting the 2.5G in -- http://community.mrbeer.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=58&func=view&catid=11&id=32817 Seems like for 1.060 and lower...

How to force carb in a week?

I've seen some talk about attaching the gas line to the beer out post as part of force carbing - is this necessary for your method?

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

Since you can fit 2.5Gallons in the MrBeer keg, you could pick any 5-Gallon recipe and cut it in half, then follow https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/easy-stovetop-all-grain-brewing-pics-90132/ for some stovetop all-grain.

Battle of the Homebrew Stores, Part II

I only buy ingredients for one or two batches at a time. I don't usually brew the same things repeatedly, so having extra random doesn't help me much. I do keep an extra couple packs of S-04 in the fridge in case I get a bad pack or forget to order yeast.

Battle of the Homebrew Stores, Part II

I place most of my orders with Northern Brewer. The ground shipping is quick for me, and I know that the products I get are of good quality. Finding all the hops+grains can be a bit time consuming on their site. As I move towards more all-grain batches, I think I will try the brew builder...

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

For fermentation temp control, I used to stick my MrBeer kegs in a camping cooler, fill up part way with water, and use frozen bottles of water to keep the temps down. If you have the stick on fermometers, be careful not to keep them soaking in water or they will be ruined. Keep reading this...

    Wort chiller question

I ran into a similar problem when I first bought a chiller. Besides having a spray head that I couldn't hook up to, I had a filter on the cold water line that really killed the pressure. What I did was to install a T before the filter, put in a ball valve and a barb adapter. This way when I...

    Newb questions....

I've had both vodka and star san get sucked in through my airlock and had no issues.

Dual vs. single tap draft system?

I just purchased a kit from keg connection, went with the dual regulator. I like the idea of being able to carb one batch while serving another.

    Holiday Brand Freezer

Looks interesting, all the one's I've looked at around $50-60 have been manual. I need to purchase a controller in the next couple days and am unsure what I should be looking for. Right now I am leaning towards...

Thanks for the info, no need to disconnect your controller. I'll have mine this week and post up with what I find.

    Holiday Brand Freezer

To anyone that has one of these, what kind of temperatures do you see using only the built-in controls? Can I get away with not using a controller for a bit?

    Holiday Brand Freezer

    Carb tabs problem

I've used Cooper's Carb Drops for about 10 batches, and haven't had any issues with floaters or low carbonation. I've also begun batch priming with sugar more often, but will continue to use the drops, I find the level of carbonation perfect for my taste. They have a bit higher cost than...

    Stovetop Heat Retention

Just checked this out. If I remove all the racks and set the big pot on the very bottom, it just sneaks in there, while the 5G would fit on the lower rack.

    Stovetop Heat Retention

The large pots won't fit in my sink. I can't carry a pot of liquid + grain around, so I really need to keep it on the stove-top. I'm confident i'm getting an accurate temperature measurement, I am able to use some thin wire to tie the thermometer in such a way that the tip is very close to...
