    Fermaid K in starter ?

Hi, I'm brewing a Kölsch next monday using White Labs' WLP029 German Ale/ Kölsch Yeast. Thing is, it will be a 11 gallons batch and, around all 3 homebrew shops nearby, I could only find one vial. Therefore, I bought some DME and I'm going to do my first starter ever. I won't have...

Love Temp Controller Series TS wiring diagram (2008+)

Great thread, this should be stickied. I've got a question for all of you since I'm quite confused looking at the different Love Controllers models. I am planning on building a kegerator with a built-in fan that will push the cold air through an isolated tube where my beer lines will...

    Remote probe thermometer wort proofing

I also thought about using shrink tube instead of o-rings, but wouldn't shrink tubing release chemical compounds of any kind when sitting at 210*F + ? If not, then I don't see why going through the trouble of using silicone tubing and o-rings... We could simply buy a cheap remote probe which...

Need help finding Bayou Classic's burner in Canada

That's exactly the one that I was going to buy from Norten Equipement de cuisine at the corner of Beaubien and St-Laurent! : 65000 BTU Burner It really looks sturdy. The guy at Norten told me that it could bring to a boil and handle the weight of 30 gallons pot full of water. So that should...

Need help finding Bayou Classic's burner in Canada

Yup. Seen those CSN stores. This is the best deal so far. Thanks for reminding me. Being on a budget, and the exchange rate between CAD and USD not being what is was a year ago ( 1 for 1 was killer ), I think I'll buy the 65K one I told about. Once I want to improve my setup, I'll...

Need help finding Bayou Classic's burner in Canada

Cool!... Found it on the Canadian Tire web site... It says its max load is 75 Kgs (165 pounds). That seems to be just enough to do the job. I think I'll buy it and do a setup similar to yours. Thanks for the idea.

Need help finding Bayou Classic's burner in Canada

Yep... they don't have any distributors in Canada. Found someplace in Delaware that carries Bayou Classic burners and he told me that the only way for them to ship it to Canada would be via UPS. The quote he gave me was 90 USD$ for the KAB-6, and 135 USD$ for the shipping ! No...

Need help finding Bayou Classic's burner in Canada

Thanks for the link. Yeah, it would be great if you could tell me what's your burner, even more so if it's from a company over here. Meanwhile, I phoned another bbq supply shop and they have one with a sturdy frame rated at 65000 BTUs for 80 CAD$... I'll go check it out.

Need help finding Bayou Classic's burner in Canada

Yeah, thing is Amazon.com does not ship to Canada. At last, not propane burners. Amazon.ca only offers dvds/books/cds. I checked restaurant supplies store, BBQ stores and so on, and there's nothing to do... no one has any high pressure propane burners. I guess I'll have to settle buying...

Need help finding Bayou Classic's burner in Canada

Yeah... I've seen this one... It's "only" 65K BTUs, however this is not my main gripe with it... it's the stand... it's about only 8 inches wide plus it does not look sturdy at all. I think I would not feel safe sitting my 17 inches wide 15 gallons kettle on it full of liquid... ( which would...

Need help finding Bayou Classic's burner in Canada

Hi, I'm looking forward to moving my brewing setup outdoors and it's now time to buy a good burner. The Bayou Classic's KAB-6 seems to be a good choice... thing is, I cannot find any Bayou Classic product in Canada at all, at least on the east coast. Does anyone know of a canadian web...

    Imperial Stout Double-W Imperial Stout

Just chiming in to let you know that I racked this to secondary after 4 weeks in primary. Had a OG of 1.117 and it's down to 1.030. Had a taste and it's already great as is... very chocolaty and smokey. Not bitter, nor overly sweet... just well balanced. The whoping 11.4% ABV is actually...

Used keggle pictures - Should I buy it or not ?

All your comments plus the state of the first keg made me take the decisions to take a pass on whatever this guy is offering. What really was the cherry on top is the email I got from Moonshiner Extraordinaire as a reply to some more questions about the soldering etc. That's it... that...

Used keggle pictures - Should I buy it or not ?

Well well well.. the moonshiner sent me another email, this time offering This one does seem to be in way better shape. However, the opening looks so badly cut, I would have preffered it to be uncut. The ports do seem to be still be rusty though... don't know if its...
