    Outdoors 2.

I use a long piece of cpvc and have measured out gallon marks on it. Cheap and easy dip stick. I know others do the same with their mash paddle or spoon

    Favorite Thing(s) about your LHBS

I'd suggest having free beer n tap (beer you brewed on premises) and guest tap from your customers. Having these samples available draws customers and give customers a visual ad taste to go with the recipe they choose from your library of recipes. For those of us who formulate our own recipes it...

    Speidel Plastic Tanks

Has anyone seen these or similar stateside? I've seen a few similar vessels to these but all are in Europe. There has to be a company here in the US that makes these or imports them for some other industry. I have one very similar to this that I've had for many years (10+) except it has a green...

Is it too late to add clarifying agent?!

i get maybe 6-8 oz of weird looking jello beer from the first pour. I guess that doesn't bother me for perfectly clear beer. It also cuts out a lot of time. I add my gelatin to the keg and rack my beer on top of it. don't really worry abut chill/cold crash it anymore cause the gelatin does the...

Is it too late to add clarifying agent?!

I second the gelatin. I use it all the time and works like a charm. just prepare a bit in a pint of hot water (160-170deg) then toss it in the keg, close and shake. let it carb and settle. works for me anyway.

    Anything make beer green?

I've read up a bit on it and dried wheatgrass powder is supposed to work well as well as spirulina

Bonus time from work : what to buy...

i'd suggest a pump. I love my chugger. they really aren't scary. I use a cheap GFCI plug thing that works great, was 12 bucks. then you could go plate chiller and those made a HUGE difference in my brewing as far as time and efficiency. plus you could turn your immersion chiller as a cool and...

    Party taps

I'm talking above the party tap stopper. The line is clean. The stopper goes down and stops beer from flowing into your glass, but a small amount is left in the nozzle that looks to make a not so nice fuzzy issue.

    Paying for Beer Evaluation

Make friends with respected judges, pro brewers, LHBS owners etc. NHC is a great place for this as well as other competitions, brewfests, club meetings etc. Ask these people to critique your beer using BJCP guidelines. I have a number of friends who do that for me. I ask for harsh judgment and...

    Banjo Burner

the tips of the blue flame should be just touching the bottom of the pot. I get my mash h20 to boil in about 15 min with mine. if i toss all 7.5 gal in at once. (5 gal batch) you might consider getting a bigger tank too. those little bbq tanks aren't big enough to push those burners very well.

    Frozen keg :(

Sg at 1.012 after 3 weeks

I agree don't worry and bottle it. But, for future if you are really concerned and feel it should have gotten much lower. You might get some distilled water and check the accuracy of your hydrometer. should be exactly 1 in distilled water

BJCP Category for a Blood Orange Hefe

enter it is all 3 and see what the judges say. Judging is a fairly subjective thing anyway.

If you were to brew a batch of beer for a wedding...

Don't get too fancy... If you want a wit or hefe do one. Just don't get too fancy. But, if it were me I'd do a steam beer or something very crisp, clean, and clear. something everyone can enjoy.
