Etching a circuit board from scratch

I got my parts in from eBay. The circuit works as designed on a breadboard, at least. If it doesn't work on the pcb, at least I'll know it's not a circuit design flaw. It's been running for about a day and a half on this set of batteries, which I scavenged from a camera flash. The pulse...

Yet another single tier DIY build

What ever happened here? That looks like a great start. I can relate to funding being the limiting factor, I hope that's not what happened to your project.

    I guess I'm a drug dealer now?!

Don't brew naked... but consider tighty whities and a 4506.

Etching a circuit board from scratch

I think I accidentally ran off passedpawn! I'm just joking, put your oxygen sensor back up there! That was cool looking! I ordered a sackful of components from Hong Kong - sheesh this stuff is WAAAY cheaper than brewing or reloading! 20 555 timers 20 8 pin sockets 2 1M Pots 50 1k resistors...

Etching a circuit board from scratch

Oh gee, thanks!! I was all proud of my work, thinking I was pretty cool there for one day. Then you guys have to come in and show me up, making my PWM board look like a scout project and all! In all seriousness, that looks like interesting work! Tedious, and mind consuming, probably like...

Etching a circuit board from scratch

Oh, and I'll make all of those traces the 'fat' size. That seemed to work better than those thin lines.

Etching a circuit board from scratch

The holes are there because that is the default in the software. When I figure out how to change it, I will make the holes smaller, at least if not remove them completely. Yes, I'm using laser toner, and pages from a Northern Brewer catalog.

    Sources for 10/4 SJOOW?

I'm considering using Ebay seller "Iron Box" for some 10/4. $39.99 for 25 feet of cord, $19.99 for the ends, $12.95 for shipping. (SHEESH! $72.93 for a damn extension cord!!). Am I overlooking a smarter choice?

Etching a circuit board from scratch

Despite there being a $7 solution commercially available, I'm going the slower, more painful, and more expensive route. I'm going to try to build my own PWM from plans I found on the net. Here's my first attempt at etching. Not a success, but encouraging for a first attempt! I'll...

    small electrical box

I'm really surprised that people don't default to a .50 can more often for small jobs like this. $5-$10 a piece and tough as can be. What don't people like about them? Too ugly?

No more GE 50 AMP Spa Panel at Home Depot?

Oh... and... what's that wand in the back supposed to be for?

No more GE 50 AMP Spa Panel at Home Depot?

To follow up - I went and got the Midwest brand spa panel today. It looks precisely the same as the one pictured. GE breaker, busses, screws, etc. The only difference between this one and the one in the picture is that the ground bus on this one hasn't been photoshopped to the lower corner.

No more GE 50 AMP Spa Panel at Home Depot?

I went today to get the GE 50 amp spa panel; there were none in the store. It's not on the website any more, either. The website lists a 60 amp GE for $72.00 and a "Midwest" brand 50 amp for $51.45. Is it critical that the spa panel be GE brand? I seem to remember some discussion here...
