Left over grain APA/IPA with harvested WLP001 yeast recipe build

I just brewed up this last month and it came out to be a real nice APA/IPA. After about 10-12 days in the keg, the beer had a real nice balance. Unfortunately, there was only half left at the time thanks to a couple of euchre games with some friends. 12# 2-row 2# Vienna 10oz Crystal 40 .5#...

    Wedding Favor Brew

Yeah, 10 months may be pushing it. Sorry about that. But you still could make one and drink it on your 1 year anniversary :) Maybe you could substitute a New Glarus Belgian Red clone instead.

    Wedding Favor Brew

What about a belgian blonde? And/or a kriek for those who can adventure beyond BMC. May I suggest corking the bottles as well for that special touch.

    Dark Pilsner

I'd look up a schwarzbier recipe and adjust the carafa amounts to match your liking.

    Recovering from hail

I wasn't expecting a large harvest, but was looking forward to something (at least from my cascades). Oh well, maybe next year. Another quick question, should I increase the fertilizing a little bit or would this put even more stress on them? I'm more or less trying to build the root system...

    Recovering from hail

Just wondering if anyone has any experience recovering from hail damage? We just had a nasty line of t-storms come through and it dumped quarter sized hail on my cascades, centennials, and zeus plants (not to mention our vegetable garden which is completely destroyed for the most part). The...

    Thoughts on German Hefe..

I think the beer may be muddled if you add any fruit to 3068. How about brewing a doulbe batch and spliting between 3068 and 1010? Then add the blueberries to the 1010. Reason why I say it could be muddled is because I added some apricot extract to a glass of a hefe I made just recently and...

    Storing rhizomes?

I had my cascade rhizome in my fridge for over a year before I planted it last year. There was enough moisture in the bag where I didn't have to do anything to it.

Dry Hops on the side...? Jug 'O Hops.

What about making a hop tea? I've never used it, but I've been researching it for my next ipa.

    Homebrewing Music

+1 on the live shows. :mug: For me, it's usually Widespread Panic, The Dead or Yonder Mountain String Band. It gets me in a great groove and brings back memories of the shows.

    Dryhopped Hefeweizen????

I'm pretty sure New Glarus dry hops their Imperial Hefe with Cascades and it turned out great IMO.

    Hops in Colorado

Normally I would say mid Aprilish, but if the weather continues to be this nice I would think you could plant them anytime. My 2nd year cascades are about 4-5" tall right now and I was thinking about planting my Columbus and Centennial this weekend. You could always put a blanket on them at...

Searching for Samuel Adams Old Fezziwg recipe and more

--There is a dominating butterscotch aroma and taste-- Could this be a diacetyl issue? I haven't had a bottle of SAOFA in a long time so I could be way off, but it comes to mind when I hear butterscotch. I'll toss this out there based on grain types listed on SA website: 78% 2-Row...

Crystal 120 and Carafa Special help in a stout

Hey all! So I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to brew next and I get the hankerin' for some stout. Granted I'm drinkin a Hog Heaven so barley wine was a close second. It's been awhile since I've brewed a stout (and tweaking the recipe I have) so I have a couple of questions. I was...

    Help finding supplies in europe!!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of homebrewing! I agree with McKBrew, talk to some of the local breweries to get your malts. It's worth a shot and it may help you with shipping charges. As for hops, it looks like you can get some US varieties via the web and have them shipped. Though we can...
