    Fermentation Chamber

Ok, I ordered the STC-1000 today and gathered the supplies for the build. Here's what I've accomplished today, (I thought I should share so you know your help was used) :mug: All the wiring is done, and now I have to patiently wait for the controller to come in and then get it...

    Fermentation Chamber

Yep, I may have to do that then. I don't need to bypass the built-in thermostat on the freezer do I? I should be able to just plug the freezer into the cooling outlet on the controller and it should start the compressor each time when it reaches the set point for it to kick in, as the...

    Fermentation Chamber

I've ordered the STC-1000, which is pretty much the one I figured I'd settle on based on price, simplicity and good reviews. Does anyone foresee any issues using a heat belt as the heater? And is the slightly squished fermentation bucket going to cause any grief?

    Fermentation Chamber

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best forum for this question, but I'm still zero brews in and a beginner, so my apologies if it should have gone in the fermentation forum. :) My wife says she doesn't use our small chest-style deep freezer, when she saw me perusing craigslist for a beer...

Controlling fermentation temperature in this environment

It's an unfinished basement so I wanted to avoid the water, as I don't have a water source or sink in there yet.

Controlling fermentation temperature in this environment

I was thinking about doing a test tonight and monitoring it for temp over a few days. You read my mind. Thanks for validating my idea, and good point about using it as my brew water.

Controlling fermentation temperature in this environment

I am planning on using a basement closet where the walls are quite heavily insulated, but the floor is laminate on top of the concrete foundation. I'm locate in BC and this basement stays cool during the summer, but not cold. I'm wondering if I should place the fermenter directly on the floor...

Will either of these burners suffice?

It's proving to be tough to find a burner that I can use here in Canada without having to pay equally as much on shipping. Ouch! I've found this on the Rona site, but not a lot of info... https://www.rona.ca/en/outdoor-cooker-08365002 I think it's 50000 BTU, based on the minimal details...

    sanitation & cleaning questions

Sounds good. thanks for the info. A friend who brews gave me a bottle tree and vinator. They need a good cleaning, but will do just fine. I assume I should take the tree apart and clean it, plus soak it in Starsan on bottling day.

    sanitation & cleaning questions

Hi, I'm getting ready to start my first brew and am acquiring my supplies. Hoping to place an order today. I'm wondering about cleaning and sanitation of bottles. Is the best practice to rinse the beer bottles immediately after use, clean the bunch with brew wash and then on the bottling...
