The NEC and the 80% rule and Homebrewing

Very nicely put LordUlrich!!! Skunkfunk - sure if the application call for it. I work solely in commercial and industrial so most of the motors I deal with have the addition of motor starter, freq drives and whatnot

The NEC and the 80% rule and Homebrewing

You probably would've been alright with 12 AWG. It's not a motor load circuit so it won't have the initial current surge that motors have when they start up. I personally don't care for pushing the limits of breakers. IMO electrical equipment wears out considerably faster when it's taken to...

The NEC and the 80% rule and Homebrewing

at least here in St. Louis 15A circuits are mainly for resi work. Almost all comm or industrial circuits are 20A.

The NEC and the 80% rule and Homebrewing

I completely agree with this. It's way to complicated to explain since there are so many factors to contend with. When explaining electrical to DIYers I try to emphasize that over sized wire is just overkill while under sized wire is dangerous.

The NEC and the 80% rule and Homebrewing

Common?? maybe on non inspected work. Any inspector worth a grain of salt should fail that installation. What people need to understand is that breakers are not installed for personal protection. They are for protecting the wire and that's all. 20A ran on 14 AWG wire, the wire and insulation...

The NEC and the 80% rule and Homebrewing

There is a lot of misinterpretation and wrong info here about the NEC code book. That table 310.16 (the one linked above) is not as simple as everyone makes it out to be. There are numerous exceptions, exemptions and asterisks to be looked at. One asterisks stated at the bottom of the table...

    Orange Zest

I just made an Orange/American Wheat. I zested 5 blood red oranges and added to the boil with @ 5 mins left. I also took the fruit and steeped them in 160-170 degree water for about 20 mins. It made something similar to an orange tea and pour that into the primary. Fermentation is winding down...

    Starbucks vs Exit 6 brewpub

Right or wrong I think Jeff from Exit 6 played it very well. A small brew pub from St. Peters Mo is now being talked about on almost every news outlet. Exit 6 has been packed since the story broke, standing room only. Not bad for a $6 investment!

3bbl Electric Control Panel, power concerns.

I'd reconsider the e-stop circuit if I were you. GFCI breakers are not designed to be continually tripped. They will wear out rather quickly using that design. I'd run a separate 120v circuit to control the coils of 4 separate 2 pole 240v contactors. Hit the e-stop in the 120v circuit and...
